Wow. Our family had a reservation for five with family that we hadn’t seen in several years that came up to Lisle (from another state) just to see us and catch up with our 90 year old Mom. We had a reservation at 6 PM. We arrived promptly. At 7:30 PM we were asked if we were done and leaving. We were told they had a reservation for 14 and they needed our table. Not once did they offer a solution to put us at a different table so they could use ours. They just basically said we’re not technically asking you to leave, but we need your table. My 90-year-old mom was embarrassed and mortified -we hadn’t seen our family and they came up special to this restaurant to be with us and spend some time together. It’s not like we were sitting for many hours just doing nothing and not eating or drinking. We had literally just finished eating. They had just taken away our plates, brought us the check and then asked if we were leaving. It was not our problem they could not accommodate their large reservation. We live in Lisle and we are embarrassed that we even recommended this place for us all to go. The owner wasn’t much help either. He said I’m pretty sure they didn’t ask you to leave and I said they did -and not only once they asked us twice. We will never return. And all of us that live locally will make sure we tell people not to go to this establishment- horrible service horrible treatment. How embarrassing that we are the ones that live here and recommended Raymes-trying to support a local business for our special family dinner. (We came to Raymes regularly ) Well…Way to go Raymes. 👏🏼 You should teach your staff to have better alternatives when you kick people out out of their reservation because you don’t know how to accommodate the reservations that follow it. And three of us at our table had worked in restaurants for many years in our careers so it’s not like we don’t understand how the business works. But you provided no alternative, no apology and were pretty callous in your response. I hope that table of 14 were regular, loyal, big spending customers of yours. Because we WERE regulars (who typically always ordered apps, entrees, many drinks and deserts) and we had always highly recommended your restaurant to our clients and friends. (Many of whom live in Naperville and local and had never even heard of your restaurant) We will be sure to update them on our experience this evening and how we were treated and asked to leave because you needed...
Read moreThis was my 2nd time eating at Raymes, and it was another wonderful experience. The food was fantastic. We came in before the dinner rush. Debbie was our waitress, and she was wonderful. It was a quiet atmophere and easy to conversate. Even as It started to get busy around 5, it wasn't too noisy. We could hear each other easily. Service still stayed on point with the dinner rush. Everything from the appetizers to the main dinner dish was excellent. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were cooked perfectly. They weren't greasy like most places. They were presented nicely and had a nice crunch too as you bit into them. The salad was very crisp and fresh. I ordered a filet mignon and my parents ordered the popular pot roast. The filet was cooked just how I like and full of flavor. I ordered a baked potato with my steak, and that was cooked nicely too. My parents loved the pot roast. My mom let me try some of hers, and the meat was so easy to eat and delicious. Some of the best I've tried and the best they have had. We also got dessert at the end since we loved everything so much. I ordered coffee and the chocolate lava cake & my mom ordered the cheesecake- turtle style with pecans, carmel, and chocolate. My dad ordered the seasonal bread pudding with a glass of milk. So glad I remembered this place as we were in the area and thought it'd be a great opportunity to introduce my parents to it. We will be back! Thanks again for a wonderful experience. My parents are enjoying trying new places and getting out of their comfort zone! They wanted to go to Olive Garden but I convinced them to give this a try, especially for their 49th anniversary!! 🙂 They were very impressed and happy we ended...
Read moreThe quality of food is starkly different from our initial visit which was admittedly a few years back. I brought my sister to Raymes to celebrate her birthday. She was reminiscing over the amazing ribeye from our first outing and she's been in love ever since. We went on a Friday which was risky- this place is always bustling with hungry patrons. We managed to get a good seat (assumingly birthday luck) and started with the crab stuffed mushrooms and soup of the day seafood bisque. The stuffed mushrooms were nothing short of disgusting. And unfortunately large portioned so we made it into a game to see how many gulps of water it would take to finish them. The italian seasoning used was over.the.top, the 'crab' itself felt weirdly grainy and the mushrooms were a soggy mess. Yes mushrooms retain and release water but theres no excuse for flabby mushrooms- ever. Our seafood bisque was a better experience but there was something off about the overall flavor. Towards the bottom of the bowl it was very peppery so I think it was simply overseasoned. My sister ordered the smaller sized ribeye and I ordered the bigger one. The cheesy crust she added had an unpleasant after taste and took her out of enjoying the steak in general. I really wanted to give a 2 Star rating for our visit HOWEVER my steak was perfect and I can't deny it. It was delicious and I offered my sister to have mine. She was let down by the night and was happy that I was enjoying myself at least. Gotta say though, the asparagus side was tasteless. Not a hint of garlic or salt- what gives?? So go for the steak! Preferably untouched by any add-ons and do.not. order the mushrooms if your palate extends far and beyond from...
