I went to this restaurant on a Monday afternoon for Valentine's Day with my husband and another couple. The waiter didn't remember much about which whiskey drinks were served on the flight menu. He was nice but lacked details on food and drink items. I also found this place especially quiet. I felt like my friends and I had to whisper while talking to each other. The music playing was a good selection of music but again, very quiet ambiance. I felt like everyone was listening to my conversation. The drinks were average. The bacon wrapped shrimp was the best food item we ordered. For some reason, they charged $1 for the large ice cubes - that's so odd to me. I would go back but only out of convenience. Update: I went back to NWB on a Friday night. The waitress was attentive and nice. She was constantly checking on our group of 9 people. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp again because duh! But this time a friend ordered the whiskey donuts for dessert and seriously they were AMAZING! Highly recommend those. Also both drinks I had were delicious and my favorite was the Whiskey Sour, those cherries are delicious. The ambiance was much better this time, the restaurant was busier this time around so I had to change my star rating for this place. Also my husband really likes this restaurant so I'll probably go back again.

Everything about this place is wonderful. Best meal I've had in a while (and I do probably more of my share of dining out). They get busy, so plan ahead. I had the house variant on an Old Fashioned. It was aromatic and delicious. The man had Rogue's Dead Guy (one of his favorite beers) on tap -- a rare find on this side of the map. My chicken and waffles were delicious, leaning a little more toward the sweet end of the spectrum with a garnish of powdered sugar and berries. And because I was in the mood, I ordered the side of elote, which was really freaking good. It's now about 10 days after this meal, and I can recall it clearly. When I asked the man just now whether he had anything to say about the place he said, "The ambience was nice in there." He doesn't talk much about such things, so that amounts to high praise. The one minor drawback is parking. It's a downtown location, so street parking is possible if you get lucky. If you don't, there's a decent-sized lot located a quick walk behind the restaurant that seems to be evenly split between permit parking and free public use -- just make sure you're in the right section. Do not let parking be a reason to skip this place. It's excellent.

From the atmosphere to the food to the creative cocktails, I really enjoyed my dinner at NWB. I had the El Toro, a spicy burger with pork belly and corn guacamole; my wife had the Asian peanut salad. I'd choose a side other than the sauteed kale next time. As for drinks, I had the Black Manhattan, and my wife enjoyed a special version of an Aviation. It tasted as interesting as it sounded when our waiter described it as being "barrel-aged for 2-4 weeks." I was surprised how delicious and plentiful the whiskey donuts were. As we were told, they really are a must-have at the end of the meal. The restaurant's contemporary interior and classic rock sounds completed the delightful evening. Oh, and I didn't mind catching some of the baseball game on the big screen TVs from time to time! It's great to have places like NWB making downtown Lisle a place worth visiting.

Came here because of the good hype. Food was WAY below average. We ordered the SW chicken eggrolls and they were stone cold in the middle. We ran out of water, asked for more but never got any. Had to constantly remind her of other things that she forgot to give us. I ordered a sandwich that was ordered in a certain way religious restrictions. The waitress forgot who ordered what and then argued with my friend about it. This restaurant and especially our waitress had no regard for the religious restrictions that I had. She got extremely defensive when I asked her to recheck the sandwich and to me, she did not want to do anything about it. To me, she had no consideration for people of other faiths. The waitress returned several minutes later with the same sandwich saying she “checked” it and it was prepared correctly. I personally think she did it in an unsanitary way. We barely saw the waitress the rest of the time. We had to ask the hostess for the check. As we left the hostess apologized for the delay in service but then said something about how they needed to know when we would leave because of a time limit? We were never told about a time limit and WE were the ones trying to leave but being ignored. This will be a place I will never return to because when you have no consideration for the other person's life situations, that tells me that this place is extremely ignorant and not tolerant.

Also, we were celebrating my friend's birthday and this experience also straight out ruined it as well. They didn't even do anything special for her and they knew it was...

My first time at NWB. Food was great. Wanted to impress a lady friend. I think they have some sort of sewage problem. At the door when you walk in it smells. A fly kept bothering me (asked for a flyswatter none available). Lady friend asked for a whiskey cube in her whiskey drink. I figured Id have the same in my 4 roses whiskey. Lady friend had to explain what a whiskey cube was to the waitress. Check came, my lady friend looked at the check and saw a 50 cent charge per whiskey cube (oh boy). When questioned waitress replied you been here before. NO first time. I'll ask the manager. Lady friend spoke to the manager. Seems there is a special tray for ice. (yea I know silicone trays on Amazon). They gave us a dollar after my lady friend said she wasn't paying for the whiskey cube. What I wanted to do was rip the dollar in half and leave it on the table the "Big Shot that I am". Said nothing all thru this ordeal thus this post. I paid the check tipped the waitress well and got out of NWB (cut your losses type of thing AND don't like to be nickeled and dimed) So much for impressing my lady friend (btw she insisted she wanted that $1) Kinda sounds like almost a scam. How many people really check their bill.??? Do you think they charge for toothpicks.??? If I try a NWB again it will probably be the one in Plainfield. So much for impressing my lady friend. Maybe its me. The place was crowded by the time we left. As for me I'll...

This place was absolutely incredible. I came here for a holiday party with my company and we had the entire place rented out for the evening. The food, the drinks, and the service all deserve 5 stars.

I started with the cheese curds, then got the buffalo Mac and cheese and the El toro burger. The cheese curds were some of the best I've ever had. The Mac and cheese sauce was made from scratch. The El Toro burger was huge with pork belly and pickled habaneros on it, but it wasn't too spicy, just perfect.

For drinks they can infuse smoke from different woods like cherry, mesquite, hickory, and others in to the liquor. I got cherry smoked Buffalo Trace whiskey and it was one of the greatest things I've ever tasted in my life. Their selection is impressively large and the staff are all very knowledgeable in suggestions and tasting points of all the whiskey's and Bourbons. I also got this Double Blazed Orange beer that tasted like a hoppy orange creamsicle and was recommended to me by one of the servers. It sounds crazy but it was very good and 9% so be careful how quickly you consume those.

If you are a fan of whiskey or bourbon or even just curious, you need to absolutely come try this place. Be ready to spend some money for two people but I gaurantee you will not be disappointed. I will be coming back here...
