We were doing a staycation in Scottsdale and wanted some Chinese food and tried this place. The place is essentially a takeout with no decorations and four tables to sit at to eat in. There was a fifth table but the owner or manager was there working on a laptop got it. But it seemed like he was doing more surfing than working.
The receipt had English at the top and Chinese at the bottom for the kitchen. I had high hopes this food was very good having grown up in Asia, but was disappointed.
We ordered four dishes. The pork pot stickers and wonton dumplings both had a saucy overseasoned meat filling which I had never experienced before. Perhaps it's a regional style I have not had before. The overseasoned filling kind of worked for the wonton soup because of the light flavor of chicken broth base instead of a simmered pork broth which is more typical.
We also had moo shu pork and pork lo mein. Both of them had the exact same sauce. This sauce was very similar to the sauce inside the pot stickers and the wonton dumplings.
The food was priced affordably but the flavor profiles was not what we were expecting. The mushu and the lo mein should have had different flavors. The pot stickers and the wonton dumplings should have had slightly different meat that isn't overly seasoned.
I've had much better dishes from food carts outside of train stations in Japan for a lot less money, made right in front of me almost...
Read moreSo prior to today I’ve never had any kind of issue with the place. But after today I will never be eating here again. I had placed a delivery order and was given a time frame of 45-60 mins. Which was no problem it’s Saturday night and they’re probably busy. Then I was called 30 mins later to verify my address and was told the delivery boy was on his way. Well 45 mins later (I live10-15mins away mind you) the delivery boy shows up and starts banging on my door. When asked what the hold up was the response given to me was “well I’m here now aren’t I” in just a completely rude tone. Then after starting to eat we had to reheat the majority of the food since it had gone cold (most likely due to the length of delivery time). So while reheating our food I decided to call the place to tell them about this. To my surprise they basically said the same thing as the delivery boy. Saying basically that if we wanted it quicker we should’ve done a carry out. It wasn’t about the speed of getting the food it was about being told something and then being treated rudely by one of their employees. Clearly that’s where the delivery boy got it. It was completely unacceptable customer service on all ends and I will no longer...
Read moreStepping into the China Red Cafe for the first time felt like discovering a hidden gem in the heart of the city. The ordering process is straightforward; you place your selection at the counter, and shortly after, your meal arrives at your table, beautifully presented in a convenient styrofoam to-go container—perfect for dining in or taking out.
While the drink options are limited to canned and bottled beverages, the refreshing touch comes with the complimentary water served in a pint-sized plastic container, complete with ice and a plastic cup for sipping.
I opted for the Shrimp Fried Rice, and it exceeded all expectations. The rice was impeccably cooked, boasting a delightful texture and flavor that truly stood out. Each shrimp was expertly steamed and sautéed and bursting with freshness, complementing the rice perfectly.
The cafe itself is immaculate, with a commitment to cleanliness evident throughout. Ample seating is available, allowing guests to choose their preferred spot in a serene and peaceful atmosphere, ideal for enjoying a meal or catching up with friends.
Overall, China Red Cafe is a delightful find, and I can’t wait to return and explore more...
