My family was looking for a decent steakhouse in the neighborhood where we recently bought a condo and we had a gift card to this restaurant so we gave it a try. Strakhouses are my favorite type of restaurants and since I travle often for business, I seek out good spots where ever I go. I've been to steakhouses throughout the US: west coast, TX, east coast, michelin star rated and tiny family owned establishments.. So, I have something to compare this steakhouse to.
Food was good, my porterhouse was cooked to my liking, lobster bisque soup was okay. If i was only ranking food, I would give 3 stars, but service was beyond terrible.
We ordedered food and got appetizers fairly quickly, right anout the time family at the table next to us placed an order. But then, it took nearly an hour to get our main corses. During the wait that other family that ordered at the time we received our appetizers got their entrees and we got our entrees almost as that family finished their dinner... I was at a dinner w/ my 2-year old and she can sit fine through 1.5 hour dinner, but since this particular dinner took over two hours she lost all her patience. Obviously that added to the level of frustration and I didn't want to finish my food anymore, but decided to take home. So, from the moment I asked for "to go" boxes and a check and the moment I got my credit card back 45 minutes passed... I could've maybe understand if this place was overly busy and all the tables were taken, but there wrre a number of empty tables, so, I really don't understand how service cam be so bad!
Last time I had service this bad was at Mastro's Ocean Club at Newport Coast, CA, but waiter realized that they screwed up and apetizers were complimentary. No such thing here, not even an apology from the manager.
After this experience, we need to find another spot in the area or maybe only do take out orders at this spot since food was good for a...
Read moreMy wife and I and our 10-year old son had a wonderful experience in Sear (then still named Bellissimo’s, although under the new management) in January of 2015. Everything was great: the food, the wine, the deserts, the service from the staff and especially from the highly accessible, cultivated, and always-gracious manager, Leo. So, when it came time for my wife’s birthday four days ago, I proposed a trip to Sear to my family, and they leapt at it (even though the trip was 40 minutes away and we live in Piermont, NY, home to Xavier’s and numerous other first class restaurants, and only 10 minutes away from Dimora in Norwood, and Sear in Closter). Again, everything was PERFECT. My wife and I had an order of Escargot (a special that day) and an order of Oysters on the Half Shell (East Coast). Then we shared one of the greatest steamed lobsters we have ever experienced in our lives. For wine, I had the Pinot Noir from the Jargon Vineyard in Napa Valley, CA, and my wife had a New Zealand Cabernet Sauvignon. Both were very satisfying complements to our meals. Our son had the Prime NY Sirloin. This presented the first problem of the evening. We are big sharers in our family, and my wife and I were regularly raiding our son’s steak and he was counter-attacking by scooping up large parts of our lobster, leading to two pointed-but-happy quarrels. Everything was great, really: we were having a wonderful time.
I am not a desert person, but my wife is and ordered the Creme Brulee and our son ordered the Chocolate Mousse. Both were excellent (of course, I was forced to try them both, despite my so-called “diet”).

Read moreI celebrated my birthday. The food is definitely amazing. This is not a $50-$100 restaurant. Minimum spend per person is more like $100 - $150. I've been here several times, and the food is spectacular. However, they completely failed on the garlic mash potatoes. Their mash potatoes are usually nice, silky, and smooth. Yesterday, it was lumpy and definitely didn't taste well. Restaurant has to work on getting drinks to the table a little quicker... no one should be waiting no more than 5 minutes for drinks.
Our dinner arrived late on the table. Some of the folks on my table waited over 10 minutes. I waited over 10 minutes for my garlic mash. Meanwhile, my fish sat on the table growing cold.
I really didn't mind waiting for the potatoes but the wait was a little too much. My bigger disappointment was when they really ruined my bday cake.
I brought in my bday cake, which had a Louis Vuitton special design sugar wrap. Instead of the wait staff asking how is it suppose to be cut, they proceeded by removing the entire wrap from the cake and completely discarded the wrap. They completely destroyed my bday cake that cost a little well over $200. They didn't even apologize. I feel like this could've been prevented if they had just asked before cutting. I figured a high-end restaurant like this would know that the wrap was edible.
I will be reaching management as I feel that they should reimburse me for the...
