I like the cleanliness of the establishment and staff professionalism is pretty standard, not above or below average however I have issues with food portions and flavors which is a big minus in my book as many others when paying for such overpriced korean comfort food. I could write this review in korean as I'm a korean native but I just would like to convey the message to a wider audience if they ever come across this platform and my review so here we are...

This type of establishment in general is considered to provide cheap food and as such its light on your wallet and doesn't put a big dent in your food budget because it is cheap and comfy food. But when one establishment tries to break out of a mold, as this restaurant is such a prime example, they get more scrutiny and criticism as people try to find reasonable explanations in regards to pricing and portions. It's called 가성비 which basically translates into price to performance which in this context can be referred to the amount of food you can get by paying certain amount of money and measure its efficiency or that money's worth. Over the years, their portion has decreased due to other factors internally then inflation. Most of these 5 star reviews are from people getting freebies from the establishment so just pay attention to 3stars and below reviews for more honest reviews. On yelp as I write this they are rated at 3.6 so this proves my argument. Coming back to my main complaint of portion and flavors, I get that in the kitchen they probably have amigos cooking with their korean recipes as many other restaurants do as they find cost cutting measures to lessen the payroll impact on their bottomline. However it is imperative that there has to be a person in charge of tasting these items that get sent out to the tables. Let's just call them a food checker for this review's sake. This doesn't have to be a silly fine dining experience as it's far from it but come on, if you really mess up on some basic soontofu seasoning and rice doneness on kimbap, you are really sucking as this joint is 분식 place or snack food place. That's just from my most recent visit. Other times has been hit or miss and their squid and pork stir-fry recipe changes quite often over the years and that's how I know they go thru different cooks as there is no consistency. The only reason I have come to this establishment is the convenience of their location and large seating capacity compared to similar food joints and my wife likes their donkatsu. It seems as though they are always focused on marketing more so than the food itself which is really a shame as they also opened another location closer to my home in little ferry not too long ago but I am not eager to go. The owner should really do something to rectify the issues instead of making empty statements about improving whatever they are lacking in response to...

Came here on Sunday afternoon with my family. When we first walked in we were motioned to sit in the booth then the server gave us the menus. The menu consists of multiple pages and since it was our first time we were looking through everything thoroughly. Not even a few minutes in, one of the ladies comes up to us to ask if we’re ready. We say we need a few minutes and then a minute right after, another lady comes up to us and asks “Are you ready to order now?” with an attitude almost mocking us as if we’ve been deciding for hours. Most tables were occupied but there were some empty tables with no waiting line so I did not understand why we were being rushed. The lady comes back after a few minutes and we’re pressured to say that we are ready even though we all weren’t. Anyways, we order and the food orders come out on by one. Each time they bring out the food, the lady looks unhappy with us. I noticed that for all the other customers who are Korean, they do not have this attitude. After they served us our food they did not check in on us or refill waters. It took a few attempts to wave them down to get the bill. While the actual restaurant is nicely decorated and the food was delicious, we did not have the best experience with the staff. So unfortunate that a cute establishment do not treat all customers with kindness and hospitality.

Also, the ramen and kimchi jigae were unexpectedly really spicy. I expected some spice for the stew but for my family who were trying to avoid spicy foods by getting cheese ramen, they were taken by surprise. Wish it was indicated in the menu. The pork katsu with curry was delicious and so was the spicy...

I wish I had a higher rating because the food is really good but the service needs a lot of work. Every time I dine in, it’s impossible to get the attention of the host to check out. The last time we were there, it took the lady thirty minutes to get her attention. She never once looked our way and she even checked out people beforehand who were seated AFTER us. Still, I try to ignore it because I really like the food and atmosphere. My last straw was when my partner ordered through DoorDash one hour prior to closing. The order passed its ETA so he decided to walk in and check on the status. Only for him to come out with 1/3 of our food because they failed to look at their orders and could no longer make the food for us. Totally fine, mistake happen. However, she tells him that if he still gets charged that we could come back and get two free rolls on the house… how is that even free if we get charged? Also, one hour later and the DoorDash order is still pending because she didn’t and would not cancel it on her end… even though she said they should have when we initially ordered. I won’t be returning to this location—not that it matters for their business. It’s thriving. I wish this place the best but the staff needs to be trained to have better hospitality and learn how to navigate their ordering systems. We will be filing a claim with our credit card company since DoorDash thru Google does not have an active line.

Changing my two stars to one after I reviewed other comments from people that confirmed the lack of attention and coldness I always felt coming here. Will be letting my friends know not...

9/9/24 Saw that a new place opened by the HMart in Little Ferry so we had to try them! They have a modern spacious space, it's bright and open. You don't feel crowded by other parties. Service was good. The lady was polite. Just got to the point of ordering. As with all Korean restaurants, they bring out Banchan once you are seated. We got a salad, pickled radish/turnip (wasn't really sure what it was) and kimchi. Salad was ok, I needed more dressing lol We didn't like the pickled radish/turnip what ever it was, it was too sweet... Kimchi was good. Fried Shrimp with Chili Sauce was good. Shrimp was crispy and seasoned that you didn't need the sauce. But the sauce was so good. And what a big bowl of it! We were like did it come with soup? LOL The chili sauce was not as spicy as I was expecting. It's almost like a lightly spicy, sweet and sour sauce. It did pair well with the shrimp. The bed the shrimp laid on, I thought was fried noodles tasted like potato straws and with chili sauce was really good. I originally went in going to order the tofu stew as I needed something soft after a dental procedure but when I saw the Gamjatang (Pork Back Bone Soup) on the menu I had to try it. It was a delicious choice! The pork was falling off the bones and the soup was so flavorful. It was a special, but I hope it becomes a permanent menu item. Because on a cold winter day, this would so hit the spot! Short Arm Octopus and Pork platter was sizzling! Flavorful and spicy. Hubby's only complain was they put too much onions. I love onions so more for me! Definitely will be coming back for more!

Korean cuisine has a long and fascinating history that dates back thousands of years. The cuisine has been influenced by various cultures, including Chinese, Japanese, and Mongolian. The ancient Koreans were known for their agricultural skills and their use of fermented foods, which has had a lasting impact on Korean cuisine. Although other East Asian cuisines such as Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese had long been popular in the US, Korean food has recently risen in popularity. Located off of Bergen Turnpike in Little Ferry, this casual establishment serves Korean comfort dishes, and I came for lunch as a first-timer. Upon entering Bunsiknara Plus, I got a table quickly inside a clean, well-lit, spacious, modern vibe and got a chance to speak with the owner. The menu was diverse, consisting of multiple pages ranging from Tteokbokki, Kimbap, and Tonkatsu to LA Galbi Combo. There is definitely something for everyone. I decided on the quick meal of Pork Tonkatsu (돈가스) which was hammered thin, making it larger and thinner to maximize the meat and crispiness. Complimentary Banchan consisting of kimchi, pickled radishes, and salad began the meal. The food was bold, complex, and delicious, using a range of spices, herbs, and other fresh ingredients. The special sauce luckily came separately to avoid being soggy. As is common in many other Asian countries, a bowl of rice is of central importance and anchors the entire meal. The portions were huge, and the price was reasonable. The service was quick and professional. I could recommend this place.
