Cafe HESED — Restaurant in Little Ferry

Great little place minutes from work. Seen this place couple of times after shopping next door at HMart and decided to finally try it. Originally just went in for drinks with my girlfriend but ended up trying out some food after looking at the menu. I really like the ambiance in here. It's just very comfy and relaxing. Multiple couches or tables to sit at while you eat or just enjoy your drink. Modern music plays in the background and it's not too loud. I read some of the 1 star reviews and was a little worried but I personally did not have any major issues. People have said they've gotten spoiled drinks and food and that customer service was really bad. Also that they dont wear gloves when grabbing desserts for you. I can see how that could be an issue. I didnt witness that while i was there though. These reviews were month or 2 ago so maybe it got better? Like I said nothing major and hopefully nothing changes when I go back. Having said all this, the only setback was the food my girlfriend ordered. She had the chicken tenders with fries and she did not like it. She said chicken was bland as were the fries. She would not order again. I on the other hand, got the fish tacos and was not disappointed. I really thought they were really good and would definitely order them again. My strawberry drink was also really good. She liked her tea very much as well. I am definitely going back again and trying out different dishes. I see myself coming back once in awhile right after work. I thought prices were pretty good as well. Reviews seem hit or miss. Either they give it 5 stars or 1. Horrible experience on mother's day!! Went in today to purchase a tiramisu cake for mother's day. Got home and mom wanted it right away. She tried cutting the cake with the plastic knife that they provide and she says it wasn't cutting. I tried with a kitchen knife and barely got to the bottom. Found out the whole cake was FROZEN solid (Not baked fresh as the box indicates). Called the place and told them that it was frozen and they didn't seem surprised. They offered a refund over the phone but after being on hold for 10 min they told me that couldn't find my receipt. Then was put on hold again for 5 more minutes and was told they found it then 3 min later says they couldn't find it.. So I was asked to come in for the refund. Once I got there and told them about the cake l, the worker says that they found the receipt. Then I was stuck in traffic for 25 min trying to go after getting a cake from tour le jour in hmart. So overall spent 45 going and coming back due to traffic cause of a darn...

Surprised they had a regular lunch menu besides just serving pastries and drinks, my coworker and I decided to give it a go. I wasn't too hungry and went with the chicken tenders and fries. Coworker got the Rueben. The Rueben was ok, it was still underdressed and mediocre for the price tag. Ordering the tenders I knew what I could be getting myself into but I took a gamble. House made and great? or frozen tendies refried. They looked house made unless they sell battered frozen tenders but either way they were oily and dry(the worst thing they can be is DRY). The fries were frozen steak fries, not sure what else to say about them. The dipping sauce was the only highlight.
