I really wanted to like this place⌠I havenât found a lot of cafeteria style places in this area and I always love the nostalgia of it. I was happy to try new fried okra and chicken fried steak but both of them were overdone and disappointing. The cornbread was so dry, very crumbly that you could not even put butter on it without it just breaking apart and not in a good way. The cabbage was the best thing that I had and stewed cabbage is very hard to mess up! Even the sweet tea ran out before I filled my 1st cup and then I was told there was more in the other one as she pointed to the Unsweet tea.
None of this was as disappointing as the conversation that I listened to while consuming this food between what appears to be the older white male owner and his crew of Hispanic women. The way this man was speaking to them was absolutely racist⌠I mean⌠the way that he was speaking to them about one woman being the star and princess of the English class, and the rest of them needed to be taking notes from her on how to âhave their English betterâ and what they needed to do was so disgusting. It was awkward, you could tell he was trying to make jokes and there was enough of the language barrier that the women werenât fully understanding the colloquialism that he was using and then he would continue digging at it until somebody translated it into Spanish and she made enough of a fake laugh to appease him and then he continued back with how they needed to take more classes.
Just a really disappointing experience and probably good 2 to 3 dollars over what the price...
Read moreWe were traveling through coming back from Mountain View Arkansas. Heading to our home state of Texas. Started craving fried chicken googled it and Bobbyâs country cooking came up. It was delicious seasoned perfect. The okra was just crispy enough and you could tell it was fresh homemade. You grab a tray, pick out what food you would like, they fix your plate right there in front of you, quick and fast, Then when we got to the end of the line , he said pick out a pie, our eyes got even bigger. The pies were just as good as the fried chicken. Wished we lived around here. This would definitely be a weekly stop for us. Good luck. God bless Bobby and his lovely wife of almost 41 years!đWe enjoyed your hospitality!! if your missing home cooking, stop by Bobbyâs country cooking because it...
Read moreWe are from Conway. In a month period I heard about Bobby's Country Cookin from a couple different people. I took my two helpers and went and tried it out. It was everything that I was told that it was and even more. The food was great with a real good selection and real generous portions (our plates were full). The service was great and the people was real friendly. The dining area and the restroom was supper clean and the price was real fair for what we got. When it comes to Home Cookin THIS IS THE REAL DEAL! We will be back and we are happy to tell others the good news about one of central Arkansas' best kept secrets. It's THUMBS UP for Bobby's...
