This place doesn't really look like a restaurant from the outside cuz it's also a carneciria and panaderia as well. The restaurant side is pretty small. I ordered the Ranchero Especial which is similar to a dish a get at another Mexican place I like. The dish was pretty good but I wish they included a bit of steak strips in it. Now for the problems. I asked for a diet Coke and they brought me a bottle that was about 5 months out of date. I've had expired diet sodas before and they're nasty so I asked to swap it for a diet Dr. Pepper. I couldn't read the date on it so I tried it and sure enough, no fizz and nasty. This place really needs to start rotating their drink stock. I went to pay the bill after eating and she said the total was $14 and change. I thought that was high and asked how much the meal was (they didn't charge me for the drinks). She said it was $12.99 plus tax. So I paid and left. But before getting into my car I thought something was off. I went back in and asked to see the menu. Sure enough, the menu price for that dish was $9.89. I pointed this out to her and all she said was the menus were old and the prices have changed. I told her they need to get new menus asap and left. Now I fully understand that pretty much all restaurants have increased prices and I also understand it's not cheap to reprint menus. But they should've at least used a sharpie and corrected the prices on the menu, like I've seen many restaurants do. And it's not like its a buck or 2. A $3.10 difference, with no warning before you order, is completely unacceptable and deceptive. Not to mention that the dish wasn't worth $13 due to the small portion size. So my advice for folks wanting to dine here is first, don't order sodas, and secondly, ask what the current prices are for your...
Read moreI couldn't see inside the shop due to the window decor but I decided to take a peak after shopping next door at the Asian grocery store. The smell of fresh bread definitely attracted me! The store is much bigger than the outside. First, there are baked goods here. Fresh bread and pastries that are made here in-house! Very inexpensive too! If you want to treat your coworkers to donuts but want something both affordable and unique then this is the place! I stocked up on some produce and, when I was checking out, the man warned me that the peppers were not the same as those at Walmart. These were hotter, he said. That's fine, I don't shop at Walmart and I don't want the mild peppers so these suited me just fine. I would argue that the produce was a higher quality than a big box store but I know very specifically want I'm searching for. It appears they make takeout easy so I'd highly recommend shopping here for some groceries and grabbing some authentic Mexican food, or pastries. I'll be...
Read moreI recently dined at El Torito, and while the experience had its ups and downs, I appreciated how they ultimately handled an issue I encountered. The ambiance was inviting, and the food was delicious —flavorful and well-prepared. However, when the bill came, I noticed I had been overcharged. This was frustrating, but when I brought it to the staff’s attention, they quickly corrected the mistake without hesitation.
While the overcharge was a bit of a damper, their professionalism in resolving the issue showed good customer service. The rest of the meal went smoothly, and I left feeling satisfied, knowing they made things right in the end. I’ll be coming back, despite the hiccup, they handled it well and the food...
