I was new to the area and trying out the different bars to find my new local hangout. When I first went to Grumpy's it showed good promise. I wasn't crazy about the smoking, but I got over that. It is a bar. The food was hit or miss. The ruben was one of the best I've had in a while. The chicken nachos were not good at all. The famous Watsoni was just avg cheese dip. The Fried Green Olives were pretty good. The panko crust was good and not over cooked The juke box was on and the atmosphere seemed good. They have a pool table and some dart boards. The bath room was pretty clean. The decor seemed dated and from the 80's.
One thing I noticed and didn't like my first visit was they don't give you a receipt. They would just say you owe this much. I went with it because the price sounded about right. I went about 5 times and each time the amount was about the same $20 - $25. Then one night I only had around 4 beers and didn't eat. The bartender/manager yells out I owed $32. That didn't sound right, so I asked how many I had. He said 7. I wasn't going to argue with him since I had no way to really prove what I had. I just wrote on my charge receipt to stop over charging or something like that. Honestly, I never thought I would go back. I decided to try again and maybe just pay cash per drink or ask after each one how many I had. I sat at a table and a waitress helped me. She was really good and fast. After my first beer, the bartender/manager came to my table with my charge receipt I left the last time. He confronted me about it and was aggressive with asking why I would say that. I just felt I didn't have that many but nothing I could do about it since they don't give a break down of what you have. So he again said I had 7 beers, but he did admit I wasn't the first person to question him on orders. When the waitress came back I asked her how much the beers were and if that was the regular price each day. She told me it was $3.50 and that was the normal price. So, 7 beers x $3.50 equals $24.50. I was a little upset now because even with his math of 7 beers he over charged me (I still think I only had 4). After tabbing out with her and giving her a tip and I asked her if I could speak with him or the owner. A few min later instead of coming around the bar like he did before, he yells as he is walking towards me saying what do I want now. I explained the math to him and he couldn't give me an answer on why is was $7.5 more than 7 beers. He just said it had to be taxes. Really? He then went on to say he is always right and the customer is always wrong. It's called Grumpy's for a reason. We got into it a bit, but again I knew I couldn't prove anything so it just wasn't worth my time. I will take my money and tips else where. This same bartender ( I think his name is Joshua), I watch him throw out multiple people over just a few weeks. I think he is running some kind of scam there. I have reported him to the local police for fraud. If you do go there, I would recommend you don't just assume you will be charged correctly. Pay out after each order, so you don't get screwed. I recommend The Tavern Sports Grill JJ's, Markham Street Grill & Pub or Khalilâs Pub & Grill over in this area. Way better customer service at...
Read moreIâm in the restaurant business. I have been a regular at grumpyâs for over a year. We always have our normal waitress, but tonight was a different experience. I will never be back. Our waiteress was rude from the jump. I have never stiffed a server in my 9 years of experience except tonight. To charge my wife and I for over 20 shots??? There is no way and if so, you have OVER SERVED TWO PEOPLE. Our total was over $250 dollars for diner and drinks AGAIN FOR 2 PEOPLE. Ridiculous. Server was rude, especially when we questioned our total. For 2 people and the quality of food not to mention they didnât have guac for the trio so we asked to sub for humus which was awful and we let our server know that it tasted off. ( she didnât care, not 2 âFâsâ if it makes a differenceâŚ) Again, I will never be back; my experience tonight was below mediocre and extremely overpriced. I know for a fact my wife and I did not exceed a bill over $150. The server said they would â review the camerasâ to prove our $250 spending and over 20 shots and also mentioned that we are a nuisance to the bar. I have been a regular here since 2020 and never had an experience like tonight. I am honestly still in shock of how rude our server...
Read moreThe tall blonde server was rude from the jump. I came in to strictly eat with my parents. Not drink. The server walked up and snubbed her nose at my disabled mother and caught an attitude with me when asking for a physical ID. I told her I didnât have it on me since I did not plan on drinking, just eating. She still was adamant I had to have an ID, not because it was restaurant policy, but because she wanted to argue it was the law. Arkansas ServSafe 2019 states you can eat in the establishment without valid ID as long as I am not being served alcohol. Regardless of the argument about the law, how she spoke to me and my family was absolutely unacceptable. And to make my disabled mother feel uncomfortable because she was oxygen was absolutely ridiculous. The reason we come there is for the food and atmosphere. And we got treated absolutely awful in the process. Also attempting to get in my Dadâs face while almost walking over my mother is grounds for assault (on a disabled person at that), but I will choose not to press that issue at this moment.
Also, that server really needs to check how she speaks to people and should wear more appropriate attire to be serving...
