Wasn't my personal experience thank God I probably would have went to jail. A friend of mine came here with her husband all excited to have a Layla's to go to bcoz the Conway one closed down. So they are all happy to be there and excited. She orders her favorite pizza, her husband ordered something else whatever his favorite is, and they brought her the wrong pizza. So she tells the waiter whom she says was working his tail off, that they had sent her the wrong pizza, so he apologize's and takes it back, however upon bringing her the "correct" pizza she notices that it was the same pizza that had a sauce on it that she isn't fond of, and it was actually the same pizza that she had been brought before, so she calls the waiter and tells them the problem in a very discreet way as to not draw attention bcoz the waiter was working hard and she felt sorry for him, so she commenced to explain that it was the same pizza as before and not the one she ordered, so he took it back and in a moment the owner or cook one brings her back that same pizza and she explained discreetly the situation, he yells at her to leave, at this point she is beside herself and nicely asked her why he was asking her to leave, he is yelling making a spectacle of himself and says he was having a bad day and didn't want to cook for her and wanted her to leave and not come back.... 👀 I mean, wow. I completely understand why a lady who doesnt usually complain and throw mistakes out there for all to know, put it up on Facebook this time!!! I am so glad it wasn't me. How rude and unprofessional! Not good business at ALL. Never will I ever visit this place and I'll do my best to make sure no1 else has to go thru that again. How rude. She ended up tipping the waiter and telling the poor guy that she hoped he could find a more pleasant environment to make a living at. Poor guy. Imagine what he goes thru everyday. 👀👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽🗣️ No way to treat a paying customer nor an employee. Bad bad business....
Read moreWe just discovered this little gem a few days ago-- we plan our stops on cross country trips to coincide with meals at great small local places we have discovered. If our anticipated Little Rock lunch place hadn't been closed, we would never have discovered Layla's -- talk about the cloud with the silver lining!! This is not your generic middle eastern eatery-- the chef serves the versions of these favorites from his native Syria....and we hadn't eaten any of these so deliciously prepared since we lived and traveled in the middle east a few years ago! The kibbeh served with a cup of marvelous herbed creamy yogurt dip and a bowl of light and satisfying lentil soup( a puree of pink skinless split baby lentils) totally bowled us over. And we've NEVER EVER had such perfect baba ghanoug (roasted eggplant dip)-- a perfect balance of texture and seasonings. Ditto for the hummus, and the tabouli salad is a true salad with its hand chopped, not food processer-ed, parsley and a lighter hand with the cracked wheat tabouli than you get in restaurants. Be sure to order the owner chef's grandmother's version of classic middle eastern tea-- it is positively addictive with its very light, very delicate spicing . And last but not least, make room for dessert and the BEST baklava you will EVER eat! We eaten the best fresh baklava from Turkey, Syria, Lebanon....and it doesn't get better than this.... We will be heading back home soon, and we've already planned to lunch again at Layla's when we get to Little Rock-- we can't wait to sample more chef's...
Read moreWonderful menu, incredible-tasting food, immaculate bathrooms, and genuinely lovely service. Our five-year-old felt like royalty.
We had hummus for starters, the Spanakopita Plate, the Chicken Plate, a cheese pizza, Turkish Coffee, and baklava. Everything I just typed was amazing.
For the first time ever, we had perfect baklava. EVERY other place we've tried in Arkansas that offers baklava makes it too sweet or drowns it in honey on top. Ugh. No thanks. Layla's served a gorgeously presented baklava that was a lovely dance of pistachio, honey, and everything else. It was light and delicious even as a left over the next day. We ordered extra to take home.
The meats in the Spanakopita make you feel like you're at a family picnic on a Sunday afternoon and some uncle has been laboring over a fire with them.
We visited at an odd time when the place was empty except for one other table. Your mileage may vary but I have a hard time imagining the food tasting bad. It is our new favorite restaurant in Little Rock. I never caught the nice man's name that kept referring to me as 'my friend' but thank you for the wonderful experience and all your...
