As a former salon owner for more than 15 years many of my clients are like family. Recently two former clients and I met here for breakfast. Called ahead to get added to the waitlist met there at 10 a.m. no issues as we were seated relatively quick. No one was rude however no one was inviting either. However I won’t hold that against them as they were pretty busy.
Fast forward to being seated as I said still relatively quick our waitress Clarissa D. advised they had given her too many tables and she wanted to apologize in advance. No worries, not being in a rush and having not waited too long to be seated this wasn’t an issue. Clarissa also took the drink orders at this time.
There were three of us one had sweet tea, one unsweetened tea and another eagerly ordered the Tequila Sunrise which was delicious 😋. Clarissa returned with one unsweetened tea and two waters and advised the others that our drinks were up and she would grab them shortly more than a few minutes later we flagged her down as the Tequila Sunrise could be seen sitting at the bar waiting. Clarissa grabbed it and returned at which time we advised we were still missing the Sweet Tea she apologized and at that time took our food orders. Still everything is fine because as stated they were busy and she did advise in advance she had too many tables.
Now the part we all waited for as it was our first time in, the FOOD. Let me preface this by saying presentation is everything especially when eating out and mind you this is the heart of Chenal in the Promenade. I would hope owners would’ve cringed at what was served. The Beignets were really good until the wet batter in the middle filled my mouth. The Bacon not at all the nice crisp pieces I saw on other people’s photos. The waffle (no powder sugar) was crunchy which would’ve been ok had it been soft in the middle. The crunch continued from the start of the cut to end. The eggs were really hard and not a standard scramble although I asked for soft I would have attempted to eat them had they resembled anything you would expect to get if they gave you regular scrambled eggs instead of soft. Another persons bacon too was limp and still really pink the biscuit had scrambled eggs and sloppy shredded cheese not what was listed on the menu. I could continue but it’s really not fair because before going I read the reviews and saw other peoples photos that reflect a much better presentation. Clarissa explained that the kitchen staff were new and we should’ve come earlier when they were not so busy because normally their moto is “Perfect food every time.” Well it doesn’t stop there Katie the manager did come out and apologize and took the food back which we declined to have them remake. I could tell she was GENUINELY disappointed. We paid for what was edible and Clarissa asked that we not do a review because they were and I quote, “trying to get their reviews up.” 😐
All this being said I will try another location because I don’t believe our experience today was a reflection of the Brand, I honestly believe it was poor training and...
Read moreFriday, Dec 27, 2024, at 10:30 am was our first visit to TBB and frankly will be our only visit. Why? They had a handwritten sign on the outside of their door listing all of the items they were out of. (On the list: regular sausage, waffles, lattes, beignets, fried chicken, French toast, honey or butter, chicken sausage, Verde burrito, orange honey butter, anything gluten free. We took pics.) Upon entering, we were asked if we had read the sign outside and were told they were also running low on bacon and potatoes. We decided to stay since we were there, but agreed if what we wanted wasn’t available, we’d leave. They had 3 young hostesses at the front door the whole time we were there, one of which took us to a table. Several minutes passed before we were waited on by someone else. We were considering leaving just as she approached our table. I ordered Eggs Benedict. It was made well. I wasn’t sure if it would include the side of potatoes as they were on the list, but it did and they were good. My daughter got the Pancake Feast (2 pancakes, 2 eggs ordered over easy + ham as the meat choice). Her plate arrived sans butter pat (it was on the list) on the pancakes, SCRAMBLED eggs, and 5 pieces of over cooked, super crunchy BACON. Though it was not what she ordered, she ate the eggs and pancakes, said they were fine, nothing special and only a piece of the bacon. It was too crunchy and overcooked. While we sat there we watched several groups of people read the door and leave. Some came in, asked a few questions and left. Even our server, who was very nice, apologized for the chaos. She said she wasn’t sure what was going on. Being that we weren’t in a hurry, and knowing that The Toasted Yolk down the street was packed with a line outside (we later wondered if they had benefited from the problems at TBB), we did make the choice to stay. But what we witnessed was truly off the chart and comical, but also ridiculous. While we were there, we also noticed them updating the list on the outside door. We assumed someone might have made a Kroger run or something. I have no idea who the manager was and/or how they could have been comfortable with what was happening or made the decision to remain open. You would expect them to be on the floor, visiting every table. If you think the list on the door is ok, why not type it up and make a copy to accompany the menu you gave to those few who agreed to stay? This is just one of the many things we thought of while there. The atmosphere is quite appealing, well done, including their merch, and I liked my food very much. Eggs Benedict is one of my favorites, but not enough to get me to come back. My daughter felt the same, said she can get eggs and pancakes anywhere cooked better and to order with butter. So much potential, but a real miss, extremely disappointing. There are too many other choices in LR who have their...
Read more01.21.2025 UPDATE i am highly disappointed with the management of this company. i checked back on my review to see if there would be any positive feedback, however i couldn’t help but notice multiple 5-star reviews being posted. the statistics of reviews spawning repeatedly is not normal, and i couldn’t help but remember that one old lady acting as a manager told me and my friends before we left that if we leave a 5-star review, they will give us a free appetizer. i can’t help but feel as if they are negating my honest experience with a tactic filled with people-pleasing incentives for free food just so the company looks good superficially. i will not let my review be invalidated by their scheme. as such, i knocked down this review to 1 star.
01.20.2025 (originally 3 stars) i had high expectations from seeing amazing posts of this establishment from social media and was so eager to enjoy a birthday brunch with friends. yet, we were left appalled from our experience by ineffective management.
when we arrived at the restaurant, we were placed on the waitlist around 11:00am with 24 parties ahead of us in line, granted there was an influx of customers as it was a holiday and was at peak hours. this was very understandable, and my party was able to shop around the stores in the area while waiting. an hour later, with 4 parties left ahead of us, we went back to the restaurant to wait inside. the waitlist was moving at a decent pace (especially since one party decided to leave the line)…
however, as it was nearing our turn, we noticed several empty tables that were either (1) empty and clean or (2) empty and still needed to be cleaned. yet, there was not enough staff to get customers seated, and there was a lack of urgency in getting tables cleaned (e.g., the host was carrying cups back to the kitchen one by one instead of attempting to carry multiple and/or bringing a tray or bin out to speed up the cleaning process AND the staff just kept walking past these empty tables while we watched with fingers crossed, hoping they would spring into action). my party was finally seated around 12:50pm although we could’ve been seated much earlier. besides the poor, incompetent management of this establishment, the staff were friendly but the work ethic is lacking (except for our server, her friendly, attentive service was a much needed distraction to our negative waiting experience and observation of inefficient table turnover management).
also, i ordered the Kicken’ Chicken which was decent, but even on an empty, starving stomach, i found it to be a basic and normal dish. The Spot at SoMa even has tastier and flavorful chicken and waffles (and better management). the only thing i’d be coming back for is the Sweet Harmony Latte, but only if our...
