Bad service and pre-frozen food. This was one of the worst places I have ever chosen to eat breakfast at. I was a party of four and our server kept forgetting to bring maple syrup with two of our orders. She brought the food to the table, said, "I'll be right back with the syrup." Then proceeded to go back to the kitchen and return to our table twice without grabbing the maple syrup. Also, keep in mind that it was nowhere near busy at this time. There were only 4 other tables, each a four-top.
My friend ordered stuffed French toast that arrived so burnt on one side, you needed a rotary saw to cut through it. This was made worse by the fact that it was covered up with ten pounds of whipped cream to try and hide the fact that it had been burnt to a crisp. The worst part was, it took almost a half hour for our food to arrive. So you can imagine the disappointment when it finally arrived.
I ordered eggs Benedict with a side of hash browns and the only fresh ingredient on the plate were the two poached eggs. The ham was not a fresh ham steak, it was ham deli meat slices that tasted like they came out of one of those pre-sealed and processed deli meat bags you can grab in the refrigerated section of a supermarket. The hollaindaise sauce on the whole thing was a thick, broken mess. The fat in the sauce had already begun to separate, leaving puddles of oil/grease on my plate. It resembled yellow gravy, not hollandaise sauce. It was also clear that this part of the dish was not made fresh either, likely came out of a bag. My side of hash browns were clearly the box of pre-frozen hash browns pucks that you would also buy at a supermarket.
The whole experience was awful, thankfully it was cheap. I grew up in this area and was in town to visit friends and family. It had been years since I ate at Topic of The Town, at least six. I do not remember the service or the food being as terrible as it was this past Sunday. Take your hard earned money and your valuable time somewhere else where you can get fast service...
Read morePLEASE SEE UPDATE AT BOTTOM; THIS IS NOW UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. It seems small but they have 2 dining rooms, and it is well worth taking time to find parking. Open year round, which is a plus for us locals, the menu has something for everyone, at every budget.
From 1 egg and toast for $3.99 to steak and eggs for $21.49, everyone can enjoy a good meal. This is perfect for me when I take my senior citizen friends out to eat so they can feel comfortable ordering food on their fixed budget or, if I cover the meal like today, it doesn't break my bank to be nice.
Of note, the coldest booth is the corner booth up front; sit elsewhere or bring a lap blanket for your legs. It's chilly. We accidentally chose this spot and the waitress was so awesome, inviting us to move anywhere we like due to the cold. We chose to stay, but next time we will sit elsewhere for sure.
Let's see what else? Oh parking... Free parking locations near by and paid parking on the street in front. On Sundays and holidays, you can park for free on the street.
Food, well worth it!!!!! Tea, bring your own bags because the tea bags are old here. Large coffee bar menu for the aficionado. Serves breakfast and lunch, and they do have a kids menu.
Bottom line: I'll be coming back for sure.
UPDATE, AS OF 9/13/24: This is now an Indian Restaurant and very authentic; I literally felt like I was back in Delhi. It was absolutely delicious! I was so sad it was not the old owners but very impressed with what I ate. I am still sitting here, stuffed to the gills...and very satisfied. I am posting...

Our server pointed to a booth and said over there after more than 5 minutes at the door, so that’s where we went. Sat there for almost 10 minutes with no menu and no one around. Our server came over and didn’t even say a word to us and just kind of slapped the menus down. We looked at the menu and put them aside letting them know we were ready to order. (I’m an ex server). Water was just set on the table (no ice in glasses and we weren’t asked about ice) finally ordered and asked for Diet Coke and an orange soda. Instead of saying they didn’t have orange soda they brought us an orange juice and walked away. Our server never gave his name and never checked on us at all. My husband ordered the sesame chicken which tasted like microwaved nuggets smothered in tomato sauce sprinkled with sesame seeds. I ordered the pork chow mein which was more like glorified ramen noodles with a little spice. Ordered the pork fried momo which was very bland. Prices weren’t bad but definitely not...
