I've been a frequent patron of VE Bar in Livermore for years, and it's always been one of my go-to spots. I genuinely enjoy the atmosphere and have had countless good times here. However, my most recent experiences have been significantly soured by the behavior of one particular bartender, Kacey.
It seems Kacey has a penchant for power-tripping, finding any excuse to exert unnecessary authority and, kick people out for little to no reason. This isn't just an isolated incident; it's become a recurring theme for myself and others.
A prime example occurred recently when I went with a group of five girlfriends on a Sunday night for a few drinks. Kacey carded everyone, standard procedure. However, things quickly escalated. One of our friends presented her passport as identification. Kacey, inexplicably, demanded a debit or credit card with a matching name to "verify" her identity. A valid passport should absolutely be sufficient identification. She then made the exact same, equally baffling, request from another friend who had her driver's license â again, a perfectly valid form of ID. Being that the girls did not have a debit or credit card to show, we were asked to leave.
VE Bar is known to be a cash bar. Asking for a debit or credit card in this context felt incredibly fishy and completely out of line. It felt less like a genuine attempt at verification and more like an excuse to create an issue.
While I've enjoyed VE Bar for a long time, the consistent negative interactions with Kacey have unfortunately made me reconsider my patronage. I would be more than happy to change this 1-star review to a 5-star review the day that Kacey is no longer...
Read moreThird time coming here in the past year. First two times bartender was the rudest I have ever encountered. I let it slide because it was a busy night so maybe she just never âseen usâ. This last Saturday my husband and I stopped in for a drink before our dinner reservations. Only about 10 others inside and we were able to sit at the bar. She sat talking to others at the far end for 15 minutes then came and served others next to us. Never saying a word to us. Finally, I heard her ask us how our day was doing, or so we thought she was, so I replied itâs going great how are you. She glared at me and I realized she was asking the two guys who walked in and were standing behind us and asked what would they like to have! She never even acknowledged that we were sitting there! She seemed to be struggling a little with her speech if you know what I mean so maybe thatâs why. We got up and walked out. Never again though! The owners of this place needs to really consider if this bartender is good for...
Read moreI visited this place after the honey wine festival. While I was there I witnessed a man named Bobby who worked there tell a veteran he couldn't bring his service dog in. When they questioned it he not only didnt explain himself but he also was extremely rude to the veteran questioning not only his right to have the service animals but questioning his disability all together in a way that was very condescending to his time in service. The guy was just trying to enjoy the place with his family and was ridiculed and embarrassed in front of every one for no reason. I really hope this doesn't happen to another family again this was totally unacceptable. I intend to spread the word to all my friends and family to make sure that they don't bring their business...
