Unfortunately I have to give a 3 star rating here. Allow me to explain. My wife, our 3 children and I stayed the night in Livingston. We googled breakfast places and Faye's came up with rave reviews. I decided we should give it a try.
-Waiting to be seated- As we walked in the host greeted us and asked how many in our party...we had 5 (2 adults 3 children, one of which is a 2 yr old). He said that the wait will be about 20 minutes for our large party and asked us to wait out in the "waiting area" which is a lounge to The Shane Center for the arts. We were ok with waiting 20 minutes, however, I did noticed when he told us this, there was a 6 top table that was open and set with silver ware and ready to seat a group of 5 or 6. We waited....waited some more and finally got seated at about 20-25 minute mark. We were sat at a different table and the 6 top was still open. In fact the 6 top stayed open the ENTIRE two hours we were there. This was very frustrating to me because we were forced to wait almost 30 minutes to be seated when we could have been immediately seated. We were planning to take our children to the museum in Bozeman and this definitely ate away at our limited time to go to the museum.
-Dining experience- The menu was definitely cool and unique. You could pick your entree and "twist" it (aka put a twist on the ingedients/taste) with a number of alternate options for the ingredients. Definitely a cool idea and a wonderful way to add variety the menu. We ordered our meals and food came after about 35-40 minutes. A bit too long. Service was great, food came out very hot and tasted very good......except my wife found a hair in her meal, my son found a hair in his meal and I found a hair on my plate. That's a bit disturbing. Some people would find that disgusting enough to ruin their whole experience. Fortunately for me it didn't completely ruin my experience. We were almost done eating at this time. I'd be willing to give them another chance because of the quality of food.
-After meal- A lot of times i would make the complaint for the experiences we had so far....for some reason I did not feel like going through the hassle. The woman cooking, whom I assume is Faye was clearly overwhelmed trying to keep up with all of the orders...she did pretty well at that but not well enough as our food took about 30-40 min to come out. There was also the 3 strands of hair we found....
Anyway.... I asked Faye for a to go box, after she came to ask how the food tastes, she said sure and never brought one. We all stood up and got our jackets on with the Male host clearly seeing us, and nobody could bother to bring our ticket. I waited about 7 more minutes and finally had to go to the register to ask for my ticket.
The ticket had two letter abbreviations for every item we ordered with prices to the right. Total $71. That seemed a bit expensive for breakfast tacos, two orders of waffles, a breakfast sandwich and juevos rancheros. I didn't bother to ask about the items on the receipt we were already behind schedule. We paid and left.
So over all, it was a mixed experience. 3 stars for quality food but poor service. I'm sure if I went there another day (mind you this was a Sunday morning around 10:30am) we would have a different experience. I would highly recommend the food, minus the hair. Very tasty. I think they need to hire one more person to assist with seating, serving, bussing and/or cooking. It seems like their little staff of 3 couldn't quit keep up on a busy Sunday morning. With 4 people it would run much more smoothly. This would likely iron out any negative experiences or anything similar to what we...

Iâll admit, when Google said Fayeâs CafĂ© âcloses at 11:00â and that it serves brunch, I was curiousâwhat kind of restaurant closes that early? Turns out, one thatâs doing something very right.
Stepping into Fayeâs CafĂ©ânestled in the creative heart of the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts in Livingston, MTâis like being greeted by a burst of joy, warmth, and imagination. The atmosphere is instantly uplifting: peaceful, infused with love, and buzzing with good vibes (âPeace and happiness is our vibe.â).
A Menu That Speaks Your Vibe
Here, breakfast isnât just foodâitâs a fun, personalized exploration. Fayeâs âChoice Menuâ invites you to describe your meal using words like healthy, savory, celebrating, and wholesome vibes. She then creates a dish that truly reflects those feelings. Itâs creative, playful, and unlike anything Iâve ever seen. The meal that followed didnât just satisfy my taste budsâit lifted my spirits, with wholesome flavors and an invigorating sense of fun.
Small Kitchen, Big Heart
The magic comes from a cozy, energetic kitchen, powered by Faye herself. Meeting her was a joyâitâs easy to see how her warmth and artistry flow straight into her food. What she creates in such a small space is nothing short of phenomenal. Every bite felt intentional and full of loveâlike sheâs making food listen to you.
Food with this much freshness and intention? Iâve easily paid twice the price elsewhere. So while it isnât âcheap,â it certainly isnât expensive eitherâitâs true value, because you know the money is going into quality, care, and artistry.
A Touch of Creativity: The Yumtwist Cookbook
Faye also shares her philosophy in her cookbook, Yumtwist (for sale right at the cafĂ©). In it, she shows how healthy cooking and creativity can go togetherâand that making food fun isnât difficult, itâs natural. Itâs wonderful to think of her food philosophy extending beyond her cafĂ© and into homes everywhere.
Food + Mental Health
What stood out most to me is that Fayeâs approach isnât just about comfort food or even farm-to-tableâitâs about food and mental health together. Eating well while also feeling good as you eat is such a powerful concept. This cafĂ© proves that food can nurture both the body and the mind at the same time.
Recognition + A Call to Action
Itâs no surprise that Fayeâs CafĂ© has been featured in People Magazine and other national publications. But it still feels like a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. For those who appreciate the finer things, value mental health, and want to support creativity in its purest formâthis is the kind of place worth âblowing upâ (in the best way possible).
In short: Fayeâs CafĂ© is more than a restaurantâitâs a joyful culinary experience, hidden inside an arts center, and it deserves the worldâs attention. Whether youâre craving something to celebrate or simply want to feel good, Faye crafts an unforgettable meal that feeds body,...
Read moreFood was okay but service was the worst! First off, it was very interesting. The menu, location and restaurant concept is one of a kind. My experience, however, was not great. After being sat down and having the menu explained, we needed a few minutes to decide. I quickly found I had questions and sat there waiting for them to return. We watched as our server sat other tables, delivered their drinks, refilled coffees and took their orders. After literally 15 minutes of waiting and watching, we decided that we were going to walk out. Before we did, they came back and expressed no apologies. I asked my questions, got my answers and we ordered. It took a while to get our food but it was understandable given the size of kitchen and how many were preparing the food. The chef came out to ask me questions to understand my restrictions. That was nice. My husband's food needed salt but was overall okay. The eggs were poached nicely. My food was also okay. The poached eggs were again done nicely but the flavor profile clashed in an unpleasant way. Our waiter never returned. We went to the counter...
