I had read the reviews about this place not too long ago, and I was impressed. I realized that Shrimp Boat Manny's was definately a place that I needed to visit. I live about 55 minutes away, but had to make a stop in Corrigan today. Because of this, I figured that I was already over half way there and might as well try it out. I have to say that I was not disappointed. I knew going in that there was about a 90% chance that I was going to get gumbo, I was just a little hesitant about getting it and not liking it. That didn't matter, because the menu even suggested that I try both the light and dark. I did not expect to like both so much. That made it a difficult choice, but I finally settled on the dark. I have tried dozens and dozens of different gumbos, and this one certainly did not disappoint. Now, while the food was amazing, the service was not lacking either. Read moreThe Shrimp Cocktail appetizer was good, but overpriced for what you get. I ordered a half pound of Cajun Hot boiled shrimp; less than half a pound came out. It was way too hot for me to eat, so I ordered a half pound of the Medium boiled shrimp. They actually brought me a full half pound this time. I took it home and rinsed it off to eat it and even then, it was still too salty. The Shrimp Po Boy was so bad, my husband only ate half and he does not spend money on things and not eat them usually. 😅 There was more breading than shrimp and the breadingjust was not good. The vegetables are frozen and rubbery, not fresh, so that sucks. The hushpuppies are inedible.. They tasted like they were overbaked the day before, left out overnight, then served to customers. The first waitress we had for the first few moments acted as if she was on some heavy drugs or she was just having a REALLY scattered, bad day. The rest is not all that. … $98 for two. I had the ribeye. It was tough and tasted like … nada 😕. $35 for that 1/2” steak (cooked perfectly though).
The veggies were cooked perfectly.
The cook is good but most of what is cooked is premade offsite. Even the best cook cant make it taste better than what they are buying in bulk
The shrimp skewer was ok. The sauce served with skewer is not appetizing to me. It has cinnamon or something odd in it.
The oyster were cooked properly: 3 large and 3 tiny.
Mac n cheese was eh.
Cocktail sauce needs more horseradish for sure. The A1 steak sauce almost seen water down.
The jalapeño hush-pups, eeh. 3 out of 4 were hard as a rock. No jalapeño flavor or evidence of, except a visual spec… couldn’t taste the jalapeño pepper at all.
The staff are doing the best they can with food products that are below par for the price.
Atmosphere is great, staff is great.
