I do not know how these guys did it, but they got hold of a glossy menu that seems to work magic on the people that walk in there. The promise offered by the pictures of what could be decent food must satisfy them off-the-bat that decent food is what they are actually served, but in my case at least, nothing could have been further from the truth. This place turned out to be a poor excuse for a Coney Island; I was glad that I did not waste any more money trying to pretend that it was an actual restaurant.
When given the opportunity to go for some lunch at a Coney Island, what popped into my head was a newly boiled hotdog in a fresh bun with some chilly and perhaps some shredded cheddar and chopped onion on the side. Okay: I got some cheese which I would bet was shredded that day - Kudos, although I had to ask, and pay extra, for it. The hot dog was OLD - shrunken to about the diameter of a (large) Crayon and barely warm, along with the bun which seemed to be getting more and more stale as I struggled to cut it - or maybe that was the ersatz beef jerky that they had put inside of it. The grease from the chilly, although not visible in the glossy menu picture, was an added caloric bonus, I suppose. Need I go on?
The next time memories of the downtown Lafayette Coney Island from back in the day are rekindled, I just might head home to...
Read moreWent here with friend we wanted a calm relaxed meal and good friendly service. A joke got a rude 'bratty girl' who wanted to rush us and have us pay asap, and when I kindly after waiting for a refill as also my friend wanted a coffe refill, the girl stood partially hidden unwilling to come over to do her job thinking we'd leave sooner if she did so. I had to talk to mangager about the excuse "you must've been her last customer so she was rushing you to leave" I'm appalled and angert regardless of them taking a percent off thats no excuse and horrible towards customers. Yes you can take out but if a group or someone comes in its your job to be professional = be attentive, not rude/snippy, check for refills and allow those that come in for a nice sit down meal 'when theres like no one here' not to rush them, or give them to someone else who's shift isn't ending with them if they are going to pull that. I am still debating if along with my friend if we'd ever come back here for this big reason alone, as had a similar issue here when my mother and I came. Sorry we'll be like everyone on 7 mile going to the "Koney Island on 7mile" good food, good service, wonderful hospitality and keeping up with refills 'no rush by employees' and we're treated way, way better at this clean caring about customer satisfaction "Koney Island". Where as...
Read moreLeo's Coney Island on 8 Mile in Livonia used to be an awesome dine-in restaurant. The waitresses were always fantastic and the food was wonderful. If there was a mistake on an order they would gladly correct it. The place was constantly busy. Since COVID, they have been one of the worst take out restaurants around. One time I had raw pastitio, the second time the pastitio tasted like wild game meat drenched in grease, and today they didn't even give me what I ordered. I wanted loose coneys with cheese and they gave me a hot dog with the skin on it that crunched when I was chewing it. My Mom received something that was the consitency of brown water with her mashed potatoes and she believed it to be brown broth. Her coleslaw was about one spoon of coleslaw. I'm just sick and tired of lackluster attitudes toward carry out orders. I would never think in the past to complain about Leo's on 8 mile because I had no reason to complain. When money is sparse it's tragic that it has to be wasted on terrible food. Shape up Leo's. You need to treat your carry out customers as well as you used to treat your...
