Los Amigos Don Juan — Restaurant in Livonia

First let me start out by stating that I was excited that a new Mexican restaurant was opening up close to home. I met a couple of girlfriends at this establishment last night (Friday March 4th) and I must say I was very disappointed! Being that it is Lent, I ordered the salmon dish and I was brought tilapia. I spoke with the waitress and at first she insisted that is was salmon and that I was mistaken. (I kindly told her to look at the picture in the menu to see what the salmon should look like). I convinced her that indeed this dish was not salmon. She then took the plate away with a quick apology and then came back about 10 minutes later to inform me that they have no salmon because it was frozen. So instead I ordered one chicken enchilada which had no taste at all. (Oh and I was starving!) I was very surprised that a manager did not come to the table to speak with me and also surprised that I was charged for my one little enchilada after waiting for a while and my girlfriends were done eating. The salsa is nothing to write home about, the spicy one is just that, just spicy with no underlying flavors and the mild taste like chunky tomato sauce. The only two positive things I can say is the table~side guacamole and the mariachi music were the only two decent things about this restaurant; that is why I gave it two stars. Livonia going DOWNHILL.

Been going to Los Amigos (Westland & Livonia) for 15 yrs!! B/w dinner & gift cards, spent over $20K in that span! We love their food and drinks (unfor no more Fajita Texanas for two though)!

Last night the Livonia location didn't accept the normal 20% coupon (expires 4/15) on back of Kroger receipts, and Los Amigos has been accepting them forever. Why? How about explain it to us vs just saying the manager doesn't accept them. What ?!?!??! If the normal woman manager was there, I would have addressed it with her (she recognizes us). And, Westland still takes them, was there just last weekend!

Further, due to 15 yrs, we know many of the employees (many transferred from Westland to Livonia when Livonia opened & more recently Livonia has had Ypsi folks transfer in). Livonia service has gone downhill (slow service without thought to water & other basics); needs fixed now to stay in business. And, will ONLY BE GOING TO the WESTLAND location from now on.

Can't even email Los Amigos to contact ownership.

Food was great as usual, but...

We walked and I embarrassed myself right off the bat by thinking they were about to close. Turned out they just didn’t have too many patrons at the time.

We were seated immediately, and given menus. After sitting for bit, our very nice waiter came to drop off chips/salsa and take our drink order. We told him we knew what we wanted to food and asked if he wanted that, too. He told us he would get our drinks first.

Some time later, we got our sodas (no straws) and waited a bit longer for my mixed drink. Mixed drink was INCREDIBLE!

He took our food order and left.

Food came out in waves. Absolutely delicious. Compliments to the cooks, because it made the night. So much flavor, cooked to perfection, and plated great.

Waiter checked on us a couple times to check in. When I got a soda refill, I asked for no ice. He confirmed but returned with ice in the refill.

He brought us containers for our food, followed by the bill. We paid and left.

We were there nearly two hours, taking about twenty minutes of that to eat. The rest...
