Wally's Chicken — Restaurant in Livonia

Unfortunately, I stayed away from here because of a previous bad food experience with the former chicken place that was at this location- I thought it was a rebranding with a new store name with same bad food I WAS WRONG! Family owned establishment! Clean tables- Can eat in-

I came for the chicken and they delivered! My husband and I shared the four piece mixed. Mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw.

The chicken was prepared perfectly and made to order. They don’t make ahead of time and let it sit under a light. It’s crisp and crunchy yet moist on the inside. Not greasy- Very tasty! Everything else was good- All served hot- Packed up carefully- unlike many other places that serve chicken as carry out, they know how to package it so that it doesn’t get soggy- A 15 minute drive home and the chicken was still hot and crisp- The sides are also reasonably sized-A small is enough for my husband and I to share- for the price, I wish the slices of cake were a little larger🙂🩷

In our next visit, I’m going to try the chicken tenders or the shrimp-

The chicken meal w/ drink, a small side of mac & cheese and a slice of cheesecake...

Update Sept 2025. I stopped in to try the chicken strips and fries and the chicken shawarma lunch special. The fries were good but the chicken strips were kind of bland and tough and dry. The chicken shawarma wrap had a small black rock-like object in it, luckily I didn't break a tooth. It also tasted a bit off, and I ended up puking about 15 mins after eating it. I suspect something was spoiled. Suffice to say I can't recommend this establishment.

-- Tried the 4 pc mixed bone in chicken meal. The chicken was ok, but a little on the tough side, kinda bland. The onion rings were great. The potato wedges had a big portion but were super bland and over cooked, would not recommend. Coleslaw was ok, kind of on the small portion size compared to other chicken places. Biscuit was average. I thought it was odd that they wouldn't let me get French fries with bone in chicken meals, only with other combos?. Prices are about average....

WOW! I am a picky eater when it comes to fried chicken and this completely blew me away! The spicy chicken sandwich (with pepper jack) is one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had! The chicken is really plump & juicy, you essentially get a whole chicken breast on a bun! The breading is incredibly crispy (beware those with braces!) and the entire sandwich was HOT HOT HOT!!!

They also have hush puppies!!! Never have I seen a place this far north with hush puppies! It’s just a shame that it didn’t come with any queso ;) They were hot, well seasoned, and hearty given their smaller size.

The only thing I warn is to remember to bring napkins! You will need more than you expect.

(The atmosphere was really stuffy though, but I suspect that had to do with this insane weather. For those heat-intolerant,...
