5-stars is not enough! My experience with Coom's banquet room was off the charts! The short version: affordable, conveniently located, friendly & helpful staff, delicious food, and an overall great experience!
The long version: When I began planning a baby shower for my sister-in-law I got quotes from almost every restaurant/venue rental in the greater southwest suburban area, and Coom's was by far the best! For a $50 deposit (that is applied to your total at the end!) you get a beautiful banquet room with a separate entrance & private bar, a great menu to choose from with enough variety for any kind of event, and you work directly with their event planner Brandee!
Let me take a second to talk about Brandee. She is absolutely amazing! She is easy to get a hold of, has great suggestions, works within your budget, and pays attention to all the details. For example, I arrived at 11:00 to set-up, and she was already there, showed me her plan for the tables, which was perfect, but was open to suggestions and ready to change if needed! Before the event she sends over an itinerary so everyone is on the same page, and you can focus on the party. Plus, she was there the whole time to make sure everything went smoothly.
The room is spacious, versatile, well maintained, and a great canvas for any occassion or theme--but is also beautiful enough to stand on its own. We had 50 guests, and everyone had plenty of room, with space left over--even with the dessert table, buffet and gift table!
I saved the best for the last. The food is AMAZING! Unlike most venues I looked into, you do not pay by the person! I cannot stress how rare this is! Instead, you pay by the tray allowing you to choose a variety that your guests will love, and that comes out to be well below the average cost per person. The best part? The food is out of this world. We threw a Sunday, lunchtime baby shower so we chose garden salad, roasted chicken with potatoes, penne pasta, roasted vegetables, and requested bread and butter for our menu. Adding the bread was super reasonable, and they never batted an eye, even though it is not on their traditional menu. We had more than enough food, and everyone was going up for seconds and thirds. People RAVED about each dish, and I even asked to personally thank the chef I was so impressed. Brandee also boxed all the leftovers for us to take home!
I have received so many compliments on the venue, food and overall experience from our guests. I would recommend Coom's to anyone, and have already recommended it to everyone I know! I have a wedding coming up, and after this experience we know where we're hosting our rehearsal dinner! It's a hidden gem right now, but it's only a matter of time before people get wind of the value, quality and versatility--so I recommend booking now! I know I will be!
Thank you Brandee, and the entire Coom's staff for such a...
Read moreI seriously don't understand this place. This is the 3rd time I've tried to come here and am disappointed. The 1st time I came there when I moved to this town 4 years ago I got a rueben. It was decent from what I recalled. The layout and vibe of the establishment just always felt off and not welcoming for some reason. Never really felt comfortable there my first 2 visits. Regardless, its been a few years and I was craving a rueben today. Figured I'd give it another try. I called ahead and asked if they still serve them and if they have a table for a mother and a 1 year old. They told me yes. I get there and they wouldn't let me sit at a booth or table, (theres no way a kid can reach the table of a high top in a high chair). My ONLY option was a high top with a high chair... um, I'm not going to sit there with my kid under a table? The point of me going there was a mother/son outing & getting some dinner for us. She offered takeout but I wanted to EAT OUT. They basically turned business away and after waiting at the door for 5 minutes with multiple workers walking past, not even saying hello, basically me engaging with someone walking by to being told that, it was extremely disappointing. I guess they were having a party later or something, but then why have that type of layout where you can't be a family establishment on a...
Read moreBeen here a couple times. Service was not great both times. The first time I thought it was because they were busy, so I wrote it off. Today was also bad but not busy. First the hostess made us wait to be seated bc she was waiting on something relating to a different party. She was just standing there waiting for some other staff member to come over to finish something. Easily could have walked us to a table in 20 seconds, but didn’t. Once we were seated, it took a while for our server to come over - this was after we heard two of them trying to decide who got which table. Our server took our drink and food order and then disappeared for about 10 mins before bringing the drinks (water and pop). Didn’t come back until after the food was brought out. Just overall not very attentive. This was the same experience we had when we were here in March. We might have had the same server both times. My buffalo chicken wrap had way too much buffalo sauce. Usually just the chicken has the sauce, but it was all over inside the wrap. My son enjoyed his Ron’s chicken sandwich. Barely any fries were included on either plate, but they were so salty so it...
