I came, rereviewed and stand by my earlier review. No change. This place came highly recommend, but I have to say I was disappointed. I came with a group of six. Service was so-so, but food was dry and overcooked. To start off, the wait was short. We came in at the time of our appointment and were seated within minutes. At first glance the excitement of trying a new restaurant was tempered with sitting at a table in full view of not just one table, but three tables stacked with dirty dishes. I can only assume a large party left before we got there. Unfortunately those dirty dishes stayed at those tables during our seating, ordering and after our chief started cooking. I didn't see them clear them until right before another party was seated. When it came to ordering I did not want onion on my fried rice. I was informed that they would have to make it in the back. At other japanese steakhouses that I have been to they always cooked the rice together at first before separating a portion out right before the tthe in the onions. Apparently Kabuki doesn't do it this way. They told me that if I didnt they would make the entire groups fried rice without onion. Considering there statements I agreed. After all, why should others not get what they want? Besides they didn't really give me much of a choice. Unfortunately this was also a huge mistake. First, the appetizers I ordered ended up having onion in it. We had to send it back. Second my soup had onion in it as well. This never was fixed even after an assurance they were going to do so. And finally, the main entree... The rest of the group had all their food prepared and put on their plates. While the chef was cooking I was informed my steak, shrimp, and salmon would be prepared in the kitchen just like my rice. This was a bit of a surprise as I thought it was just my rice, but it was a little late at that point. After everything was done and my chef cleaned up, he went to the kitchen. A few minutes after that my food was brought out. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. By the time I received my food I found it was cold with the exception of my rice, which had a bowl on it taking the moisture in. (The trapped moisture also caused it to be a bit soggy, not what I would have thought I would see with fried rice. ) Overall, the food was pretty bland. The shrimp had no flavor. My steak was overcooked and dry. The salmon was also dry as well as lacking texture. I traded pieces of steak and salmon with others and found it was limited to my food, the food cooked in the kitchen not the chef who cooked at our table. Others had steak pieces that were cooked to perfection. Their salmon was flavorful. I do not know who prepared my food in the kitchen but I can only hope it wasn't a regular duty. I would have thought it was finished ehen out chef went back there but since it was cold, I have to assume it was cooked by someone else when our table's chef saw to everyone else's. If the issues would have been limited to my meal I may have rated them higher considering the flavor others had. But it was the lack of service that tipped the scales for me. First, remember my surprise when my food, especially the steak, was being cooked in the back? Well no one ever did ask me how I wanted my steak cooked. In comparison, our chef asked each person in our party when he started cooking their steak. As a result my steak came out well done, very well done actually. Not the way I would have cooked my ribeye. I should have been able to get this fixed, but no one came by to ask how things were going or check on our needs. I did ask one of the people who refilled my drinks if I could talk to someone. However no one ever showed up, atleast not until they brought us a check. By that point, we were ready to go. This is probably the only japanese steakhouses that I ever left food on my plate. For any visitor that eats here, all I can say is make sure your food is NOT cooked in the kitchen. We pay good money for our food here, it is disappointing to find issues like this as a result.

Always great food and service!!! The half price sushi is what brings us in the most, but the hibachi is a fun and delicious visit for special occasions. The staff are always friendly and professional. They are always good about checking in with us and bringing refills. The sushi is delicious! We love the Fire & Ice roll, The Sir Lantro roll and the Volcano roll. The hibachi steak and chicken is a favorite and never disappoints us. The only negative is that there is almost always a different group of 2 to 4 middle-aged men sitting in a booth (not at the grill) having an OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD and inappropriate or super personal conversation, with zero care that there are other people in the restaurant.😒 C'mon middle aged men, have a conversation but look around you. If people are looking at you, compare your volume level with everyone elses in the restaurant and adjust to that...and keep the convo appropriate. Don't put the staff in an awkward position and weird out other customers.

📅 Date of Visit: 8/5/2021 💬 OVERVIEW - 4.75 Came here with some friends as their treat. They hadn't been here either. 🗺️ LOCATION - 5 Kabuki has a great location there on Main Street. 💲 PRICE - 4 I wasn't fond of the prices, but in the end, you really get what you pay for. 🥩🍣 PRODUCT/SERVICE - 5 I ordered the Salmon 🐟 & Shrimp 🍤 Hibachi which came with fried rice 🍚 (had to pay extra for the fried rice option), steamed vegetables 🥦, a salad 🥗, and soup 🥣. It was all delicious. The fun part was watching the show of your food being cooked in front of you and the chef, Carlos, was rather entertaining. 📢 POINTERS/PERKS - N/A I'm sure there are tips for visiting, but what they'd be I wouldn't know what they'd be. 👨‍🍳 EMPLOYEES - 5 The waitress was kind and always ensured our drinks were filled, and once again the chef was rather entertaining to watch him cook our food.

Sushi was awesome! The rest of the experience was not so awesome. We've always loved going here, but tonight just ruined it for us. Hopefully you're fortunate enough to not have "Kevin D." As you're waiter. We showed up at about 5:45 and we were sat down right away. Only 4 other tables were occupied. We ordered drinks and sushi first. The place was starting to get busier as the 6:00 rush came rolling in. He brought the sushi and drinks then took our food order. While waiting for food, our 2yr old spilled his apple juice. Another waiter completely ignored that it happened as she stepped over us while we were trying to clean it up with our cloth napkins that are terrible at soaking up large amounts of liquid. The time is now 7:00ish, our food finally shows up. All the tables around us had been seated after us and were already paying their bills and leaving. We had ordered the steak and chicken, we received steak and shrimp. We told him we had ordered steak and chicken so he took our plates and came back 5 minutes later with the same plates to let us know he checked and we had ordered steak and shrimp. We politely let him know we don't ever order shrimp there and we always get the steak and chicken. He continued to tell us we were wrong, so I said "It's fine. No big deal, we'll eat it." He then offered to get us chicken. We asked how long that would take and he told us "Just 40 more minutes." After being there for almost an hour and a half already, we didn't want to wait any longer. The noodles were terrible tonight, we usually love the noodles. Everything else was pretty good still. We did ask for lots of extra "yum yum" sauce that he didn't bring out. We figured we'd ask him next time he came by. He didn't check on us again the whole rest of the time we were there. Didn't even bring us our bill. We had to go to the front counter where he finally intercepted us then chewed us out for not waiting for him to bring it to us. After being there for over 2 hours at this point and waiting about 10 minutes for the bill, we didn't feel like waiting any longer and just wanted the hell out of there. He finally got our bill and literally threw it at us. We've always loved this place, but after tonight's experience I don't think we will be going back anytime soon if ever. We would much rather go to Fuji in Pocatello now. It takes the same amount of time from where we live to get to Pocatello. Thanks Kabuki for giving us another reason, among many others, to...

The reviews I had read before going to this restaurant had consistently been positive. So, we decided to eat there. Maybe it was an off-night, but tonight was my wife an I's wedding anniversary. So a 4+ star rating really shouldn't have an off-night, right?

We felt our waitress was very disengaged. And that's fine. She dropped our ginger/wasabi plate at our table and onto the floor and says "Sorry...I'll get another". And that's fine, too. I, personally, would have thought that the loud clang would have encouraged a little more embarrassment and sincere apology. But, no. She didn't seem to care.

Soup was really good. Salad was okay. Spicy tuna roll was, quite frankly, terrible. Gas station sushi quality...not even kidding. Contents of the roll were spread very unevenly and the cuts were REALLY uneven. Some cuts extremely small and thin. Other cuts were too big to fit in the mouth. Maybe it was a trainee learning how to make sushi. That would be fine, but the rice was very undercooked and the sushi roll fell apart when you tried to pick it up in the chopsticks. And disintegrated if you dipped it in soy sauce. How does a sushi restaurant pride themselves on their sushi, but doesn't know how to make sushi rice correctly? Main meal: Lobster was over-cooked and dry. Worst lobster I've ever had. Steak was okay. Shrimp was over-cooked and dry. Noodles were actually fantastic! Rice was under-cooked and hard. My wife is Asian and she was once a sushi chef. She takes her rice very seriously. Probably the first time I've ever seen her push aside her rice. It was that poorly cooked.

Very disappointing experience. After tying this I've decided to change my rating from 2 stars down to 1 star. I will not be going back...
