I think people should know there is a possibility your piece will be damaged and it will be blamed on you.
They need to do visual verification of the checks before the pieces leave the store with the customer, not behind closed doors.
I picked up my two pieces and went to my car, and both were damaged. A horn broken off a dragon, and an owl with a chip. It's pretty obvious that when packing they broke the horn and chipped the other piece when it broke.
I literally got them, left. When I was turning out of the parking lot my wife saw they were broken. Went around the block.
And they put the onus on me saying they check every piece. Yes, sure. But if you wrap a piece after checking it, and put two large pieces in one small bag, you aren't going to know if you damage it after being packed.
This is my second time at color me mine, and while I had recommended the place to others, it's not worth it.
That's a hundred bucks down the drain, because they broke my pieces trying to squish them in a bag, after wrapping them.
It would have been nice to have some sort of reconciliation, but their manager didn't want to solve it - because we had left with the pieces and they said insinuated it was our fault. And they couldn't get a hold of the owner.
They called back finally, and their offered solution was to reglaze, and then they found the piece in the parking lot. This tells me when I pulled the pieces out of the bag it was already broken, or it fell out of the rip in the side of the bag.
They state that they talked about it and their product is more about the "experience" and not having a finished piece. I want to reiterate that point. Having my pieces broken by the staff is "part of the experience."
What a joke.
And a large part of the conversation was the employee stating how the owner has another full time job. Good for them. Everyone has a job, doesn't change the problem is the owner and...
Read moreWe came on a girl's date for a family reunion. All 11 of us would come back!!
-STAFF: I was impressed by the professionalism of the owners and staff. There was a little bit of tension when we first arrived due to a miscommunication with the reservation; but we recovered, and the staff was professional and kind and even had fun with us after that. -AGE: It is NOT conducive to smaller kids. I wanted to bring my 3.5 yr old, but it would have gone horribly. There is pottery all over the shelves, within reach of a toddler. The 6 year old little girl who loves art did great, but I wouldn't go younger. -TIME: Definitely plan longer for larger groups. We had 11 and it took a good half hour to get us settled and painting. We adults could have spent up to 3 hours, but the little girls (age 6 & 7) were quite done after 1.5 hours. -LOCATION: It's in the mall, -toward the front main doors- so it's as accessible as the rest of the mall. There is a bathroom and drinking fountain right next to the store. -PRICE: As of 12/23 there is a $4 fee that covers use of the studio and pays for them to glaze and fire the pieces. You choose the piece you want from the shelves, which are priced individually. Prices range from $18 to $75+. A tip is expected. -PROCESS: *Walk in and pay, choose a table *Pick your piece from the wide selection on the shelves. *Choose your paint colors. An employee brought a sample palette with the numbered colors, I told her which ones I wanted, and she brought them to me. I think I could have done it myself, but appreciated the help. I got my own refills and we were of course allowed to change our minds. *Paint! *We left our pieces and our mess on the table when we left. *They will dip our pieces in glaze and fire them, then call us to pick them up. They say it will take 10...
Read moreI had high expectations for my visit to Color Me Mine, especially since I had enjoyed past experiences there. Unfortunately, this visit was incredibly frustrating and fell far short of what was promised.
From the start, the process felt disorganized, and the staff member was stressed. While the painting itself was enjoyable, the pickup process was a complete mess. We were told our pieces would be ready in one week, and we even received a text confirming they were done. However, when we arrived, only three out of four were finished, and we weren’t allowed to pick them up until the fourth was fired—forcing us to wait even longer. When we finally picked up everything, my piece was missing its lid, meaning yet another unnecessary trip just to get what I had already paid for.
This was meant to be a simple and fun experience, but instead, it became an inconvenient and time-consuming hassle. I invested time and money expecting a smooth and professional process, and I was incredibly disappointed by how poorly it was handled. I sincerely hope Color Me Mine takes this feedback seriously and offers some form of resolution to make up for this...
