The coffee here was good and the service was friendly. I wanted to leave a review about Kumbatia because West Side promotes this organization and I couldn’t find a way to leave Kumbatia a review. Kumbatia is a non-profit organization located in Kenya that provides schooling/day care for kids and promotes safety for women at risk or who have endured domestic violence. I wanted to support a local organization and felt passionate about its work. I donated to the organization and sponsored a child. I was disappointed after months of sponsoring that I did not receive a single update regarding the child I sponsored. I started to question what my donations and sponsorship were going to. After looking into the instagram of Kumbatia and CEO, I started to feel uneasy that the CEO of Kumbatia would often request donations for items such as fancy dresses and suits for the children. I felt like this was an irresponsible way to spend donation money as these dresses and suits were not very practical. Why not purchase everyday clothes and school supplies? After looking at the instagram, it felt like these dress clothes are just used to dress up the kids for an Instagram post. The CEO of Kumbatia also made a go fund me to pay for her plane ticket and purchase Christmas pajamas for the kids to give them the “best Christmas ever”. I found it really distasteful that she would use money for a plane ticket to go to Kenya instead of using that money on the kids. She also seems to go to Kenya once or twice a year. I don’t understand how she can spend all that money on flights to Kenya when there are kids still needing sponsors. It appears many of the women and children working at Kumbatia are Muslim, so I didn’t understand the emphasis the CEO put on giving them the best Christmas. It’s very much giving white savior. I wanted to warn the public about this organization. I think there is potential for good, but I do not stand by the CEO’s...

The coffee is fine (for Logan UT where the options are very limited) But one thing you NEED TO KNOW is if you order food - you will be waiting a minimum of 45 minutes, I have experienced it numerous times and witnessed other customers frustration often. Does not matter the type of food, time of day or amount of people in the shop. For now I'm going to stick to making coffee at home and save myself from the frustration. On a side note its never a good sign when the company is responding to negative reviews with sassy excuses as to why it took so long rather than trying to adjust their business operationally to fix the problem. .
They’ve got good beans (coffee, that is) - but lattes and mochas are average, at best. I’ve held my tongue on any reviews the past year I’ve been in Logan ‘cuz I love independents (and Westside has good beans, branding and they’re only a block or so from my house), but -
this afternoon when I walked in at 5:15 (they close at 6) I got a double dose of silent-but-deadly coffee-shop employee attitude, with a side of crappy quad-shot iced-mocha.
Mocha was grainy and hardly blended - only saving grace was (again) top-notch roasted bean taste.
I’ve managed bars and coffee shops and I know exactly why I got the attitude I did - the employees were breaking down and cleaning up (early) and didn’t bother hiding the fact that they didn’t appreciate me coming in and placing an order.
I suppose they are a local favorite (considering the crazy wait times), but my experiences here over the past year tell me it’s because of the 1) atmosphere (quaintly designed and pretty chill) and 2) peeps proclivity to patronize a local, independent over a corporate chain.
I regret tipping before service (albeit a meager tip) and have concluded that from now on, I’ll walk 3 more blocks to swing into Starbucks when the craving strikes (crappy beans, but consistent drinks and...
