UPDATE !! We decided to give them another shot, its sunday and our annivesary so not much of a optionto chose from;
not a good experence, my husband got the big chicken we waited 35 min, (not busy we went at like 4pm on a sunday ) it came way over cooked, dry, hard to eat, my mac and cheese was luke warm and super runny / watery our server wasnt very attentive, so we didnt say anything, didnt want to wait another 35min for food again, i think we will need to find another place to eat.
We found this place 4 months ago and have been twice a month since, never been disappointed, we went of friday and had our first disappointing service, we got pretzel bites (Took about 30 min to get them) they was delicious untill we found the hair in them, the waitress took them off our bill, first it took over an food a hour and half for our food, no biggie, we wasnt realy in a hurry how ever when it finally came, our 2 pasta dishes was cold, the one that was suppose to have chicken only had a very thin one piece, we got the big chicken, in the past several times we have been it is bigger than the plate, not this time, very small, and dry , thin piece of chicken the potatoes was runny and grainy, didnt taste like real ones, we also got the birthday desert which also took about 35min, over all the food was not impressive, just a very disappointing night we was there about 3 hrs, server did great, yes it got busy and seemed like she was by herself, we will give it another try, not willing to let one...
Read moreIt pains me to have to write something like this. I have been going to this Ruby's location since 2018 (twas Old Chicago at that time) and always enjoyed coming here.
I am off and on with my dieting (keto), but when I am on it, I always come here and get their amazing cauliflower-crust pizzas. Over the last couple of years in particular, I would get their individual sized pizzas along with their lunch specials, solidifying my love for the place, and where I had always recommended the place to others. Ruby's was always reliable to me that I could get their pizzas at a great price and still continue dieting and supporting them.
I learned today (7/29/25) that they no longer make those pizzas towards their lunch specials, and now charge an ADDITIONAL $3-4 dollars for a simple item. That, and it doesn't even come with their lunch specials anymore. When questioning the management that was there, they stated that this was always the case (it wasn't) and that they were cracking down on their servers who had offered that deal along with the lunch specials. I left, clearly bothered and having wasted my time.
So many other servers, management, and an owner have always set up cauliflower-crust pizzas along with their lunch specials, and only am being told now that that should never have been the case?
The only reason for me to come to Ruby's has now come to an end. This place has lost a loyal customer,...
Read moreCame to rubys at 5 o’clock on a Sunday. Ordered a couple beers. They ended up being out of. That’s okay, I’m not too picky so I ordered another similar one (server was apologetic and accommodating) ordered our food and were notified shortly after that they ran out of the appetizer we ordered so they told us to order another one on the house (again server super accommodating and apologetic) comes back not long after with a completely different appetizer and informs us that they ran out of the other one as well…(again, server was super accommodating and apologetic) the breadsticks we ended up with were fine. When we got our burger, we couldn’t taste anything other than black pepper as the burger was completely coated in a thick layer of it. Being in the restaurant and service industry for well over a decade, I’m kind of surprised this burger made it on the menu, however, we let our server know that it was quite peppery, and he replaced it for a normal patty, same burger style. Again, through the whole experience our server was apologetic and accommodating. We aren’t trying to write a bad review for service, but the food and menu updates could use some help. Sincerely, hungry...
