La Santaneca — Restaurant in Long Beach

I love little out of the way, hole in the wall places. You can find some of the nicest people and good food. I enjoyed the plantain leaf wrapped chicken tamale for only $2.(!) The masa could have stood to cook a while longer..but all in all, my server..also the cook..was polite, happy and sweet. She even allowed me to sample a typical beverage made with diced fruit and "nance".. Salvadoran cherries. I WILL go back to try other things! This was 3yrs. ago when I originally left this review. More recently however, the prices of everything have gone sky high, with not too much improvement ob customer service,..actually it has regressed. It was slow and emotionless. I paid $3.50 for a bottled soda that I could have purchased in any market for $1.49. I waited far too long for my order..which was good(2 pupusas, 1 revuelta,1 with lorocco(a sort of broccoli like, Salvadoran vegetable) with cheese. They were ok, still very large, but a bit bland, and the surtido was a bit bland as well. No tamales were available and the pan (sweet bread), was a bit overpriced. I'm sorry to see that my little spot is not what I had first enjoyed. The one place on West Anaheim (another hole in the wall,) not so overpriced, is still...

Aweful. I felt I was discriminated I ask for a menu and the cashier pointed to the wall, well the wall only had pictures and numbers I asked again for the menu that's on the website, she started talking to the lady in front of me asking her if I was with her and the lady said no and then they both looked at me like I was crazy. So I told her I'll go to Pupuseria on willow won't be spending my money here. I'm a very friendly person I have a lot of friends I don't know if I should call ktla 5 or fox news over this I was really hurt because some good friends told me to go here and try their pupusa. Hoy fui a esta pupuseria y en la que e sido clienta por muchos años. Resulta que la cajera cuando llegamos estaba con una pesima pesima atitud. Parecia como que no tenia ganas de tomar la orden, ni de trabajar. Le preguntas algo no te contesta solo a señas te enseña la respuesta y rueda los ojos con mala cara. Cuando llegamos nos sentamos y ella se fue detras del mostrador y nos llamo que ya no se toma la ordenes en la mesa. Despues de estar observando sus malas cara mejor, le dije que cancelara la orden que solo queriamos el cafe (solo porque ya lo habia servido) me dijo que las pupusas ya estaban si me las queria llevar. Le dije que no, y luego me pregunto que porque ya no las queria. Le dije que con esa carota que traes parece que no nos queries ateneder. Me dijo que su cara no tenia nada que ver con la comida y que no le estan pagando por estarse sonriendo ni atendiendo, solo tomar la orden y ya. Quiso seguir discutiendo y le dije mira es asi de facil no me gusto tu servicio al cliente asi que me puedo llevar mi dinero a otro lado donde si traten bien a sus clientes porque no venimos a pedir regalado. Parte de retener la lealtad de tus clientes en un restaurante es servicio al cliente. La dueña es muy amable y desafortunamente hoy no estaba alo mejor por eso esa señora estaba tratando mal a sus clientes. Pero definivamente an perdido una clienta.

Update: Despues de dejar este restaurante nos fuimos a La Ceiba (foto adjunta) 400 E anaheim suite A,Long Beach,CA 90813 es nuestra primera vez aqui y el restaurante esta muy limpio y bonito. Y deveras salvaron nuestro desayuno. Desde que llegamos la muchacha muy amable y se siente una alegria. La comida esta espectacular y se las recomiendo.
