It’s the beginning of Latin Heritage Month, and around Mexican Independence Day every year, @ilovelolas serves the highly anticipated dish: Chiles en Nogada. This dish is symbolic of Mexican Independence as the dish contains the green, white, and red of the Mexican Flag. It’s comprised of a roasted poblano that’s stuffed with a picadillo and topped with a walnut cream sauce (nogada) and pomegranate seeds. The picadillo has ground pork cooked with fruit and nuts—Lola’s uses golden raisins, Fuji apples, white peach, Asian pear, and pine nuts. The end result is sweet and savory, pairing well with the subtle earthy heat of the poblano and the nutmeg-creaminess of the nogada. Definitely tastes like a comforting holiday dish. If you haven’t had Chiles en Nogada, you must check out Lola’s Mexican Cuisine in Long Beach while pomegranates are in season.

Just awsome real authentic Mexican food in general. I highly recommend asking for the sauce that they refer to as the quote on quote green crack lol as it goes good on just about everything they make one thing that's so nice about Lobos though is they have fully vegan options and vegetarian options for so much and it's all readily good-tasting I have a pescatarian diet so I usually get a vegan dish and just have them add sour cream and real cheese since I don't eat meat but I eat seafood fish and dairy products. IT services usually good occasionally there's a few waiter says that tend to ignore you and forget things but 90% of the time they're spot-on. And if you are looking for vegan options I highly recommend the appetizer nachos they are made with soy chorizo, and I don't even like to chorizo but they're soyrizo just tastes like a really good kind of sausage that goes with the nachos and they are some of the most detailed and layered nachos I've seen or they put cheese in between the chips and add all kinds of different toppings. and if your male like me know you have to limit your intake of soy as it can add estrogen to your body but small amounts won't hurt you and the nachos are incredible especially when made with regular cheese and just a meat substitute but their vegan cheese is very good as well highly recommend the tacos Dorados with your crispy tacos or the tacos Jalisco that you're more traditional that my vegan friend typically gets every time he goes to Lola's

Trendy hipster upscale Mexican restaurant in Long Beach. Inconvenient parking; street parking with meter, or tiny corner parking lots, you might have to compete to park. $2 per hour, can’t park past 10pm.

Inside is loud and dense. You can drink alcohol on the front patio within the partition, which is cool. Back patio is preferred, neighboring multi-story apartments overlooking outdoor dining patio makes you feel like you’re eating in the backyard of a house.

Party of 6 ordered, blue-hair waitress was friendly and efficient. We got a couple refills of chips. Green dipping sauce that comes with chips is really good. 3 of us order Chile Relleno, it arrived luke warm -not hot, one with cheese not melted. Not very tasty at all, beans tasted weird, rice was ok. Very small portions too, I continue eating chips and dip after finishing my plate because I was still hungry. The label on the menu suggested it was spicy, it was defiantly not spicy at all, not even a little bit. Not spicy sauce was available, however I did not ask.

Very expensive considering small portions.

Overall great service and attitude despite asking to reheat the chille relleno’s.

Also it must be mentioned, this business is anti-American. In the middle of liberal Long Beach, and being a Mexican restaurant, I can’t say I am surprised with the subtle -and not so subtle anti-Trump propaganda. Some people go out to nice restaurants and hope to escape politics.

Second time eating here at Lola’s. I remember a more positive experience the first time years ago. That green dipping sauce was the best part...

Showed up around 4:20 and was put on the waiting list for 20 minutes, but look at us they called us early. We ordered the drink specials the old Cuban and receive chips and Two types of salsa. The drink was falling short from spectacular. Downside -As many reviews referring to speed and attention? if you don’t really ask ,you don’t get refills. We got chips about 10 minutes in, finished within 10 minutes.Sadly, it’s going on about 30 and my boyfriend is sadly picking the crumbs trying to get any taste of the awesome salsa.

40 minutes in the restaurant, just on chips and a drink, and running out of salsa ...At 5 o’clock he would’ve at least thought someone would’ve been here. Only after taking a picture very overtly of our empty box of chips we were offered a refill very quickly.

Food finally comes ISH My boyfriend says that Sopes did not taste fresh, when he put his fork in it, it should go right through. But I have to say I wasn’t blown away by any of the Sopes, to me it tasted extremely gamely and it kind of made my stomach turn a bit...

1 hr in still no entree ...

Entrée was mediocre to say the least. Chili Verde sadly was missing the Verde. And my Chili Rellno came out super late, and something was just off I couldn’t even eat it, maybe it was too rich, maybe I was sick from all the chips and very rich salsa from the hour before. Maybe I was disillusioned by all the hype, but me and the significant other I have to say that we probably won’t...
