Nile Cafe - Hookah Lounge & Mediterranean Restaurant — Restaurant in Long Beach

FOOD POISONING. DO NOT EAT HERE. I wish I had looked at all of the reviews instead of just seeing the average rating of 4 stars. The good reviews only mention taste, but MULTIPLE 1 star reviews mention unsanitary conditions, health code violations, and food poisoning. I worked a long day the day I ordered from Nile Cafe, I had no other food in me - after ordering and consuming part of Nile Cafe's chicken platter, I almost immediately had an onset of mild food poisoning symptoms. These symptoms persisted and eventually escalated to some of the worst food poisoning I've ever had - lasting FOUR DAYS and ruining my entire workweek and the weekend trip I had planned. I mean it - this was some BAD stuff. I'm on DAY SIX and I'm just now slowly able to add solid food back into my diet. I can tell you right now that I will not be eating chicken or Mediterranean food anytime soon because I am that physically repulsed by it now. I'd like to point out that this restaurant is WELL aware of their negative reviews and has been called out by customers for multiple concerns and health code violations and clearly seems to be hiding these complaints and disregarding them all together. No customers besides what seems to be family besties. A man laying down outside hitting the hookah jumps up and asks if we are here for hookah or food. Ordered chicken kabob. Rice was a little dry and bland, hummus was saved by he paprika and the salad had one (1) tomato but it was good. Chicken was actually well cooked and juicy really good. The pita was lukewarm at best. Really doesn’t take much to warm it up not asking for a stone oven at least toss it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Overall it was just ok but I ate it all bc it’s 1am n I’m hungry. Forgot to take pic prior so y’all getting the after. Would I come here again? Depends what time. Is it first choice? NOT FOR THE FOOD, NOR THE HOOKA. You can go one or two miles and be closer to the beach, be at a better hookah bar/Mediterranean restraurant and pay LESS!!!

I placed an order over the phone, I went to pick it up and was greeted in a very weird way like "why are you here, can i help you?" Then I asked to add a dessert and an appetizer, they didnt have either. Really??? I ORDERED ONE THING AND GOT THE WRONG ORDER. ONE BLOODY ITEM AND THEY MESSED IT UP!

Oh, I also made the mistake of ordering a drink. They split it in two tiny coffee cups. WTF??????? I called to complain and TO EXPRESS MY SHOCK MORE THAN ANHYTHING but noooooooooooooooooooooooooo they couldnt care less!
