Phil Trani's — Restaurant in Long Beach

It's just outstanding, it's a specially lit, very 60s Frank Sinatra Vegas style huge plus booth kinda joint with classic class, down to the owner himself in the kitchen making sure your meal is perfection. All the charming ladies who work with Phil are all beautiful, graceful and very warm. SHOUT out, Trish, Shelly, Amber, Gloria, Frida, Jen P, Barbara, Paula, Lindsay, Ashley.... It's an awesome place to bring a date because no long wait, beautiful seating, and it's one of those places that your date will think you know the secret places to go rather than the typical high traffic scene. The food is the highest quality that you'll find in places that would charge 3 times more. They have the top menu and everything on it is available, unlike many places that run out of things.... Steaks! awesome... Chicken, huge salads, seafood, appetizers, soups, desserts... prepared right. If this isn't enough, they have full bar and a lounge separate that you can move to if you want, and LIVE MUSIC and dancing Fridays and Saturdays.

Phil is an awesome human being and very talented and very popular with locals, he usually stops by the table to make you feel like part of the family and if you're with a date, you will have that VIP cool.

Parking is free and huge parking lot that is their own. Everything is easy about Phil's come and have a drink...

Phil Trani is the youngest son of the origianal San Pedro's Trani's...but boy the food is definitely not the same. It is truly fine dining. He welcomes you to walk into the kitchen and watch him cook.

I've been going there for over 20years ( I guess I'm one of the 'geezers' that some of the younger customers find a little 'dusty.') nevertheless...if you're taking your folks out to dinner guys like me will make them feel at home.

The atmosphere is sort of like Musso Franks...but with softer chairs.

1 out of every three times I go in there ... there is a famous athlete in the place. (QB Mark Sanchez, Jason Kapono NBA 3pt winner 2 years in a row, Billy Kilmer QB Redskins, and thelist goes on. Great fish because he knows every fisherman left in San Pedro...plus pals w/Santa Monica Fish co.

Sometimes the wait is long if you don't tell the waitress you're in a hurry.

Needless to say I...

Our first time here. Lovely dining room, nicest staff who were efficient & right on top of things. The bread offered was yummy- you have to force yourself to not eat too much. Nice wine selection & fun, unique cocktails. Had a fabulous starter with tomato & buffalo cheese slices, basil & a yummy bleu cheese & bacon topping. Chowder was okay- I prefer it creamier, less potatoes & celery, more clams. Ribeye was good but came with cajun seasoning. ..we didn't realize there was an option for chargrilled. Sand dabs were good..had a panko coating. When you order an entree here, it comes with soup or salad & a choice of pilaf, mashed, baked potato or pasta. It was an exceptional deal.. Our waitress Freida was superb & the bus boy made a super effort to back her up. We'll go back....ribeye without cajun & perhaps veal scallopini or medallions of beef.
