A Delightful Lunch Experience at Charly’s on Jersey Shore On a sunny day at the iconic Jersey Shore, I had the sheer pleasure of dining at Charly’s Restaurant, a place that effortlessly became the highlight of my visit. From the moment I stepped into the establishment, I was enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that felt like a sweet embrace. Every corner of Charly’s whispered elegance, wrapped in a cozy ambiance that made me feel right at home. The service was nothing short of spectacular, largely thanks to the wonderful Ms. Elizabeth N., who attended to me with grace and warmth that could melt the coldest of hearts. Her attentive nature, combined with a genuine kindness and willingness to go above and beyond, added a special touch to the whole experience. Elizabeth proved to be the epitome of hospitality, making me feel more like a cherished friend than just another customer. And then there was the food – oh, the food! The salad, a centerpiece of my lunch, was extraordinary in every sense of the word. It was unlike anything I’ve had before, boasting a symphony of flavors that danced harmoniously on my palate. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, each bite bringing forth a burst of summer vibrancy that elevated the dish to a whole new level. This wasn’t just a meal; it was a culinary adventure that left a lasting impression on me. In conclusion, lunch at Charly’s wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience that captivated my senses and warmed my soul. If you ever find yourself wandering the shores of Jersey, do yourself a favor and visit Charly’s. It’s not just the exquisite food or the lovely ambiance that will win you over but the heartfelt service and the unforgettable moments you will take with you. A special thanks to Ms. Elizabeth N. for making my visit extraordinarily memorable. Charly’s is a true jewel of Jersey Shore, and I cannot wait to return.

They seemed to have been short staffed or something because there was a wait and not every table was filled. Our guests arrived before us and put our names down and they were told they only had outdoor tables which we wanted anyways. They sat us down at an indoor table and we had to ask what happened to the outdoor only tables? She moved us and every table seemed to be filled with guests. Our service was very slow as it took quite a while for even drinks to come out and we didn’t get a chance to order yet. As this is happening most of the tables outside are clearing up. Appetizers came out and we were well past finished before our main courses came out and it seems to be getting emptier in the restaurant. The drinks were good and the food fairly good as well. The sweet potato fries could’ve been cooked longer. This is my third time here and every time has been quite pleasant. It was a holiday and quite busy all over the Jersey shore.

I will give this place 5 stars because their peanut butter dessert with ice cream was epic. Calamarie was kinda bland, not even seasoning in the crisp. My steak was over cooked but they recooked it at the proper temp. Was very tender and sauce was good after it came out the 2nd time. When they served entrees they didn't know whos Food was who's. (the server wasn't he one who served entree, it was a food runner or someone who worked in the kitchen it seems) the server was actually very good. But that peanut butter desert with ice cream was epic... I would go there just got that dessert again.

Last night we ate at Charley’s. When it was time to pay, we handed our credit card to the food server. He took the card and then returned with a POS wireless tablet. He had already swiped or tapped the card when he returned. I selected the tip and signed the wireless tablet.

The next day, the card was used on Walmart.com for a $364 online purchase. This is the only place I’ve used the card in 3 weeks where I didn’t tap the card or inserted the chip myself, or used Paypal.

To use the card online at Walmart.com someone had to have attempted to add my card and include the 3 digit code on the back. Everywhere else I used the card there is no opportunity to see my 3 digit security code and expiration date, except when I hand over the card, like at a restaurant.

No, I don’t have a smoking gun. I didn’t see my card skimmed or a photo taken front and back, but this is the first time in 4 years this card has been used fraudulently, and it is the day after I used it at Charley’s Ocean Grill.

I called the manager out of courtesy, but she made no effort to ask me for my name or contact info. She took the call and said they’ll investigate.

The response speaks for itself. The manager made zero effort to ask me for my contact information so the restaurant can investigate and respond to our issue. Instead, when we called the restaurant to advise them of the circumstance, and before the review, the manager was defensive. She couldn’t tell me why the server removed the card from the table when the protocol is supposed to be to bring the POS tablet to the table and have the customer tap the card at the table. Instead, the manager kept insisting it was not the fault of the restaurant without even inquiring of the staff why they removed the credit card from the table.

The review didn’t accuse the employee, it alerts people to the ‘likelihood’ of skimming at the restaurant, and the alert that the manager didn’t make the effort to take down contact information and advise the customer of the outcome of a review.

Whether the employee is responsible, or another party at the restaurant is responsible, is not at issue. Protocols are to bring the POS terminal to the table, and not remove credit cards and walk them to the bar area.

And when a customer calls you about a potential issue, take their contact information and follow up.

We were planning to dine at the restaurant again, until the experience with the manager. Now we are...

Food was OK, we wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. We went there today after a day on the beach for a late lunch. Drunken clams were good, bread they give with it is very soft; doesn’t work for dipping. Hubby ordered the chicken sandwich that is supposed to come with mozzarella cheese and I ordered the lobster tacos that is supposed to come with chipotle Mayo and old bay fries. When we received our food; his chicken sandwich had yellow American and my lobster had regular Mayo and regular fries. Not worth the $20.00 for 2 tacos. Very little lobster mostly Mayo and cabbage and a small slice on each taco of avocado.

The waitress tried but didn’t seem to know what their restaurant offered; we asked what type of oysters they had since the charge 3.50 per piece figured they had to be good. She didn’t know and when she asked she came back telling us they were from Maryland; we have no idea what type of oysters as she didn’t share the actual name so we skipped on them.

I had ordered a Sauvignon Blanc; I think I got a Chardonnay as it was very yellow and sweet. I asked if I can exchange it as it was to sweet and asked if they have Hendricks gin. She of course didn’t know and said I can check so you want a “shot”. I immediately said no, just want to know if you have Hendricks. She came back with a rock glass with Hendricks straight. I said I didn’t order this, you walked away so fast I couldn’t tell you that I wanted a Hendricks Martini with cucumbers, please. Finally got that but it was warm not shaken; so I had to ask for ice.

Now let’s talk about the cleanliness of the bathrooms. We are still fighting COVID and most people are concerned and want to know when they go out to eat that the place is clean. Well; I think the below pictures speak as to how clean their bathrooms are. I wish I went to the bathroom before we ordered and ate. We would have left before we sat down.

There is a post on the front door about disinfecting protocols; We don’t believe they are following that.

Don’t believe the view; you can’t see the ocean from this restaurant.

We would not recommend this place and will...
