We were so excited to try Anchan Thai. We love that they source their ingredients from local Asian markets and have some shipped from Thailand to make their food authentic. We placed our order online and went to pick it up. I went in and told Annie I had placed an order online. She took my name, went in the back, came back, and asked me what was in my order. I told her, and she said that she thought they had just sent my order with a delivery driver. I had seen a woman walk out with a large order just as I was getting out of my car. She double checked and confirmed that they had, in fact, sent our order out. She said they might have to remake it, but ended up calling the delivery company and asking if the driver could return with the food and get the correct order. We waited for our food and it was exchanged with the other order. It was a frustrating experience, which could have been made better if Annie had seemed at all apologetic. Particularly in customer service, the words "'I'm sorry" said sincerely, can be very effective. But, no apology was offered. Hopefully, in the future, they'll check their orders before sending them out and offer an apology if this should happen again. One other minor disappointment is that, despite the request for No Utensils (as seen on the receipt), they still included plasticware. Despite this situation, we enjoyed the food and would order from them again. Everyone can have a bad day. See our rankings below (scale of 1 to 5, asked for mild spice for everything):

Read moreFantastic food! We've been wanting a great Thai restaurant in town for a while now, and we got our wish with Anchan Thai! (We love Urban Thai, but it's more fusion than traditional Thai.)
My wife and I had the spring rolls appetizer and they came with a peanut sauce that was a great portent of even better things to come! We both had the butterfly pea flower tea that was as delicious as it was fun, and will be something we order for our kids to enjoy next time we come. My wife ordered the Pad See Ew and it had a scrumptious charred flavor that's missing from most other Thai places we've tried. I got a small bowl of the Tom Kha soup and it was delicious, perhaps a tad sweet and low on spice, but that's just me trying to find SOMETHING to complain about. It was fantastic. I also ordered Pad Thai because... I had to try it! And I wasn't dissappointed (I couldn't finish, so it's waiting in my fridge right now to be enjoyed for lunch). I got a spice level of 5 out of 6 on the Pad Thai, and that was perfect for me - definitely spicy enough to make my nose run, but not so hot to make it hard to eat.
With all that, we would've been overjoyed with our meal and left happy, but to make our trip here even better the owner came out to chat with us for a bit. She brought us some homemade, vegan ice cream on the house, and it was superb! Then she told us all about how she imports her coconut milk from Thailand because it makes all the difference in her cooking. As far as I'm concerned, whatever her secret is for this food she should KEEP IT UP! Everything was out-of-control delicious.
If you're looking for a new place to try in Longmont, don't miss out on Anchan Thai. It's joined our list of top tier, mind-blowingly good restaurants in the area (along with Rosalee's, Rosario's, Georgia Boys, Urban Thai, Flavor of India, and Saigon Xpress in Longmont, and then also Magnolia in Lyons and Black Belly...
Read moreThis is probably one of the better southeast Asian restaurants in the greater Boulder area, and the reason for that is they serve certain fruits and desserts that other Thai restaurants simply don’t have. In Colorado standards, this restaurant is one of the best Asian restaurants.
The chicken satay is pretty massive for the price. It’s grilled to the right amount. The curry menu has a range of choices and spice level, and the curry not watery at all. The pineapple fried rice tastes better than any Thai restaurant in Boulder proper, you can’t really go wrong with it. Both their tom yum and tom kha soup are filled with toppings.
What I really really love about Anchan is the dessert menu. You have no idea how hard it is to find a Thai restaurant in the area that actually serves mango sticky rice, and one that tastes good! I’ve tried the sticky rice with mango and lychee. ALSO it’s the first time that I’ve seen a restaurant serve lychee!! Let me tell you how hard it is to find lychee at grocery stores here in Colorado, much less at a restaurant. For this one thing I give anchan a 5 star.
I’d probably recommend the Dessert Medley if you want something unique, but I’d recommend the sticky rice with mango or with lychee with equal enthusiasm.
Our go-to drink is the anchan ice tea with lime. I think you can do without the boba topping since it’s a little pricey. But the anchan ice tea with lime is sooo goood.
Atmosphere: chairs/booths come with seat pads. I like the water bottle and cups as they aren’t the boring transparent glass you see at other restaurants; Anchan’s are of a southeast Asian theme (if you look at other review...
