From the moment you step into Oskar Blues, you're enveloped in that perfect blend of craft beer culture and welcoming atmosphere. It’s a place that just feels right, whether you’re a hop-head on a quest for the next great IPA or simply looking for a fantastic meal in a laid-back setting.
On my recent visit, the experience was elevated from great to absolutely stellar, largely thanks to our incredible waitress, Desiree. She was, in a word, phenomenal. Not only was she impeccably attentive, ensuring our glasses were never empty and our food arrived promptly, but her genuine warmth and extensive knowledge of the menu truly stood out. Desiree navigated our table's varied questions about different brews with impressive expertise, offering spot-on recommendations that perfectly matched our preferences. She had a fantastic energy that was infectious, making us feel genuinely valued and adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening. It's rare to encounter such a perfect balance of professionalism and personable charm.
And the food? Oh, the food! Oskar Blues consistently delivers on its promise of delicious, hearty fare that pairs perfectly with their exceptional beer lineup. I highly recommend diving into their gumbo and classic po'boy sandwich. Each dish is clearly crafted with care, using quality ingredients that shine through in every bite. Of course, the star of the show for many is the beer, and Oskar Blues' selection is second to none. From their iconic Dale's Pale Ale to their rotating seasonal offerings, there's always something exciting to discover, all served with that perfect cold crispness.
Oskar Blues isn't just a place to grab a drink; it's an experience. The vibrant energy, the exceptional food, and most importantly, the top-notch service make it a truly memorable destination. If you're looking for a fantastic time with great food and even better beer, and want to be treated like a valued guest, make sure Oskar Blues is your next stop. And if you're lucky enough to have Desiree as your server, you're in for...
Read moreWe arrived at lunchtime, wondering why the parking lot wasn't full, but we soon found out. I'm giving the restaurant only 3 stars, and that--for a few reasons. Although the food was delicious, the server was not real attentive; she was very nice when she did talk to us, but she seemed a little preoccupied with other things when it came to serving us. We waited for quite awhile after ordering to receive our food (which in all honesty, may not have been anyone's fault--things happen, we know). Maybe the restaurant was understaffed or something; it would have been nice to let us know if that was the case, though. The food we ordered was quite good, except, in my estimation, some dishes should be served on a plate instead of a pasta bowl. My husband and I have been to the restaurant several times in the past and have even brought out-of-state friends there, but we were not real impressed this go around. I feel badly that the prices have gone up drastically; we just didn't feel everything was on par with what we paid for our lunches. The Oscar Blues' beer selections aren't on their menus, so you have to use your phone to scan a QR code that takes you to who-knows-what on the Internet to look up their beer selections--without prices. If I would have known that we were going to be charged $18 for two glasses of beer, I wouldn't have ordered; that was my bad for not asking first.
Re--review, a couple of days later: I replied to the manager's email, who responded quickly. We exchanged a couple of emails; he said that he'd like us to come back to the restaurant to give it another try. I told him I'd talk to my husband about it, and I'm sure he'll be willing to try again. It would be nice if more people in management/service positions were as eager to please their customers as this man was. Thank you for getting back to me, I really appreciate your responses and your...
Read moreThis place went from our favorite to having nothing on the menu of interest. The big thing we loved is their fried pickle spears, which was a unique take that made them less soggy, more crispy and juicy. They have been replaced with standard pickle chips that are soggy, salty, and flat. Completely inedible. There wasn’t a single meal on the menu that I recognized as a favorite. I was able to customize what used to be the trustafarian burger with the help of the incredible waitstaff. Also they’ve started serving margaritas with one giant ice cube? It’s ridiculous. What’s really disappointing is that co owner Jason was on site and i spoke to him several times over the course of this experience about the disappointing and unforeseen changes. I’m not sorry that I’m speaking truth to to the fact that you basically turned Oskar blues into a watered down Red Robin’s, Jason. It’s sad how something so special can change so fast. Hope yall fix your pickles and get your poop grouped.
My partner and I came to Oskar blues for fried pickle spears after we eloped. We had hoped to do the same for our rehearsal dinner now that we are planning our formal gathering. Shame that won’t work out.
Edited based on owner response: it wasn’t one thing taken off the menu. The whole menu changed with maybe less than a handful of what the menu used to be present. My frustration is not just fried pickles - it is that everything that made Oskar Blues special has been replaced and if I had to guess why probably cost and greed. After calling all the other Oskar blues to see about their menu changes, it appears that they are all in favor of becoming just another boring chain. Last day to get your faves is July 25 2025 at the Lyons location and after that you may as well go to Applebees who will have a shockingly more...
