Read moreI want to preface this by saying I have often frequented Southern Sun, Mountain Sun, and now Longs Peak Pub; I lived near all of these restaurants, under the same umbrella group, for the last 20 years. The restaurants are great. But, I am deeply disappointed with Longs Peak Pub's billing practices, that to me, after multiple repeated issues have come up, are enough that I will likely not return. This is a big statement for someone who loves these restaurants so much.
Here is the situation: when you put in a to-go order, they have started to charge 20% tip. Fine. Now, when you show up to the restaurant, they give you the famous written receipt, but it only has the base cost, nothing else. Then they show you a hand held computer screen, which asks for 15, 18, or 20% tip. If you aren't paying attention, you will tip twice. At no point do you see a break out of the costs, they just give you the tip screen and send you on your way.
Well, a few weeks ago, this tricked me. And I tipped 20% plus 18% on that. I let it go. Today, I had another to go order. I asked over the phone - directly and clearly - do not include any extra tip, I will tip in the restaurant. Sure enough, same tactics. The 20% was added, it was not visible on the receipt, and they then tried to get me to double tip. I caught it, my wife caught it. We asked for a manager, who immediately claimed that no one in this restaurant would ever do that, it must be a mistake. And continued to deny, and eventually said, well, I will use it as a "training tool". Actually, what needs to happen is to stop the practice. Period.
I wonder how many other people this has happened to? I encourage you to check your old charges, check the menu price, and ask for a refund if you think you were charged twice for tip, especially when you are totally unaware it is happening unless you ask to see the "hidden" receipt. Be careful. I truly hope this is all a big mistake. I really doubt it because the servers know what they are doing, they...
Read moreSat down and was asked if we wanted to order something, felt like saying "no we just walk into restaurants to look at the wall paper ..."(duh, obviously we wanted a menu of some sort for starts). Food was good,I enjoy craft beers but couldn't find one I really liked here after trying a couple, did settle for one to see if it grew on me( it didn't), would have tried more but some girl came and took me an my friends menus which totally puzzled us both, like I guess we should have memorized it within 5 minutes..so that ended our attempts to get anymore beers, one and done since we got completely ignored until they wanted to give us our check after asking about our food after we finished, I gotta say the staff seemed like rich kids forced to get a job and had no common sense-one even made the comment to the another employee across the bar "I would rather just be at home smoking pot" (which is fine by me but when you are at work and a representative of a business maybe keep that to yourself..and invest in a mirror and comb/hairbrush and try to smile..it helps make you look professional..), then i go to pay and pull out my card and they lady goes " oh ya so we don't take cards" as if it was a normal thing everyone does and I was supposed to know that somehow( original bar tenders guy did apologize for not telling us ), then the ATM kept getting stuck communicating and wouldn't work, finally on forth attempt it went through , turns out there was a small sign buried behind some others that tells you that they only take cash or check down at knee level before you walk in and they do some trust system with the checks if you can't pay that day because of that,(they hope you read the fine print in the window while you walk around looking at the ground in Colorado) Overall I can say food was good, trying to be more fancy then they are but still good food, rest of it was just dumb.. probably won't be back...not with all the other good choices in the town that are like normal...
