I am half Laos and half Thai this was an EXTREME disappointment to my culture. I thought that I was getting authentic Issan food because of the sticky rice but the rice was microwaved, the papaya salad was not the real version I grew up eating no chilies or lime or padak, fish sauce and chilie flakes doesn’t cut it. My minced meat salad( laab) was missing the fresh ingredients it needed to give it true taste. I wanted grandmas or aunties cooking that makes you come back wanting more, I know when the chefs go home they cook the food different and I get that but if salads don’t taste like grandma’s then I don’t think the rest is gonna be the same, I think your better off being friends with the cook and going to their house and know what your really missing. No thumbs up for this place, they need to be more authentic try showing Thailand true flavors
To the owner, I know you run a business and not everyone is Asian but too feel like your having Thai food and tasting like your having Thai food makes me want to go back but I didn’t see that in your food. For my first time being at your spot I was expecting Thai food the way you would cook it not just for a menu. I told the guy 7 peppers but got chilie flakes if that means 7 peppers means 7 chilie flakes then I was mistaken for your papaya salad thank you for changing chicken to beef but it’s not the way you would make it. If this is insulting to you I’m not trying too. but I think Thai food should be Thai food not...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. I honestly think this is the worst review I have ever left. So let's get to it. First, their flavors are great. I honestly can say the flavor for my fried fish curry was fantastic. But curry isn't, soup, and this curry was thin enough to be soup. I have worked in many Asian restaurants and made curry. It's suppose to be thicker and rich. Their curry? Rich. Not thick and how thin it was honestly kind of ruined it for me. Also the fish was so scant I was literally "fishing" the whole time for it in my bowl of curry soup. My guess is they used a small filet or half of one. Great for cost, not for making a good dish. Also $4 for a single spring roll? Come off it mate. It was a basic spring role and probably not worth the effort on the chef's part to make it or mine to purchase it. For a consolation prize I enjoyed the Pad Thai my roommate was kind enough to share after I gave up trying to eat the curry. Is this harsh? Maybe. But I'm usually the first to leave a stellar review, but when the food isn't there, the food isn't there. Best of luck to you all at Sticky Rice and I hope you just had a new cook learning how curry is not...
Read moredisclaimer I've never had khao soi before so I have nothing to compare this with BUT.. I got the Khao Soi which is a coconut curry soup and I loved it. So creamy and delicious.
But Mana Thai is fantastic EVERY time. The owners are a husband and wife and every time I've gone in the husband is in the front taking orders. You can tell he really loves the food and is stoked on it. Like it's a labor of love just as much as a way to make a living. Sometimes I'll hear women in the kitchen laughing & speaking Thai which is a great sign if you're trying to get Thai food lol. The ingredients are always fresh and I've never had something that I haven't loved. I try something new almost every time. I would have tried the whole menu by now if the drunken noodles didn't call to me in my dreams 🤤
Mana Thai is a gem and Longmont is seriously lucky to have this place. I don't need a bunch of options for Thai food (even if that would be nice). I just want one restaurant that's consistently good. This...
