Holder's Country Inn - Los Altos — Restaurant in Los Altos

I have never been to the original locations (Cupertino, San Jose) of this restaurant chain and therefore had no expectations for this “diner” restaurant. The menu states breakfast, lunch and dinner served all day. I ordered the mushroom, spinach, avocado soufflé omelette for which I opted to replace the toast with a pancake. (I emphasized single when I ordered and now wonder what I would have gotten if I didn’t make this request). My fellow friend opted for a waffle and was treated to a nice caramel-brown Belgian waffle. The omelette had a rich buttery taste and fluffy texture. A cross-section view of the omelette uncovered layers of eggy-goodness, meaty mushrooms and fresh spinach. The accompanying hash browns were very (too) crispy. Pancake was delicious. I ended up eating 50-70% of what was offered. So next time I think I will share my breakfast...

First time visiting this place and I was so impressed! I tried the California omelette souffle which came with fresh avocado, tomatoes, and mushrooms. It also came with two giant buttermilk pancakes and hash browns. Easily the best tasting and fluffiest eggs I've had in quite some time. For $15 you get enough food to feed 3 people. The portions here are extremely generous to say the least!

To top it off, their house coffee is actually good which surprised me. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Overall, Holder's is a wonderful addition to downtown Los Altos....

Terrible experience here. We waited 1.5 hours just to get some food that was mid at best. We arrived at 10:45 and sat while there were not too many people. We hoped to get served fast, but we got our food at 12:45! The servers were slow to respond and took our order at around 11:15. After the grueling wait, the waiter came and gave the kids their food.
