Ayara is my favorite Thai restaurant. This is actually my first Thai restaurant I ever recall going to. My coworkers & I ubered here & it was definitely worth the ride.
I loved it so much I introduced my other friends & boyfriend here. The only downfall is that it is a bit pricey. So be ready to spend some money. My boyfriend & I got three items from the menu. I ordered Papaya Salad, Crab Fried Rice & he ordered Spicy Chicken Basil. The order was an easy $50+.
The Papaya Salad is the best papaya salad I've had. I have visited many Thai restaurants trying all their crab & vegetable fried rice but no one, I repeat NO ONE tops Ayara! Their crab salad is made with REAL Dungeness Crab Meat. It's so freaking good. I top it off with the Thai Chilis in Fish Sauce. It's mouth watering good!
The service here is excellent! One time I ordered the Basil Fried Rice Mild Spicy & for some reason it was entirely too spicy for me (the chili peppers were probably extra spicy that season) & I asked if I could exchange it for the regular Basil Fried Rice & they exchanged it no questions asked or extra charge. I was so happy!!!!
I never had to wait more than 3 minutes for seating. The space looks small when you walk in, but then it opens up wider in the back. The decor is pretty cute too. My boyfriend loved it so much, he wanted to recreate the wall with the elephant/animal figurines.
If you are ever visiting in Los Angeles please go and visit Ayara. It is located near the Los Angeles airport. You will not regret it unless you forget your wallet lol! Now go make your...
Read moreThis is my new go to spot when I need to eat after a long flight into LAX airport. I just got back from Miami and when we landed we were so hungry. We wanted soup, so when I yelped soup at 9:00pm on a Sunday night, I found Ayara Thai.
I saw they had Tom Yum and Tom Kha and just knew this is where I needed to be. When we arrived at 9:20pm they were not taking anymore walk ins but I told them we knew what we wanted and would be fast. The cashier was so nice and let us sit and order.
We ordered Muay Thai Wings, Classic Papaya Salad, Tom Kha Hotpot, and Drunken Noodles. It was so much food for 2 people and so delicious! Our waitress Jean was very nice and bubbly, great energy! The place was packed and the ambiance was small and intimate with A lot of friends getting together or date nights. The prices were reasonable and there was tons of parking. I decided this is my new spot when in this area of town.
I came back a week later on a Saturday at 6pm after picking up my niece from the airport and it was packed with an hour wait. I wanted to have their food so bad and I was happy to see they offered takeout and actually have outside seating where you can eat.
This time the two of us ordered Tom Yum, Spicy Basil Pork Belly, and of course the drunken noodles which is my favorite dish! I liked the Tom Yum better than the Tom Kha and for me the pork belly was a bit too salty, but my niece loved it. I can’t wait to try more stuff on my next trip home from...
Read moreI had just flown into LA and was looking forward to my first meal here. When we arrived, there was a sign in book outside the restaurant, so we signed in and waited outside. Even though several servers passed by inside, no one came out to check on us, so we went inside and waited on the empty bench. No one greeted us or even acknowledged our presence. We were waiting about 10 minutes when a group of people came in, and were immediately greeted warmly by an older Thai lady wearing a grey and white bandana (the hostess?), and she asked them how many were in their party. I said, "Excuse me, but we have been waiting to be seated." I thought maybe they thought we were waiting on take out. She replied, very nastily, "Yes, I know you are waiting. Don't get upset." I was very tIaken aback by her response, since my tone was not rude at all. She seated us shortly after that, but her attitude pretty much ruined the meal. My massaman curry was good, but not great. I counted maybe 5 peanuts and 3 potato chunks. My husband's wonton soup was good, but they brought it out several minutes before my meal came, so the soup got slightly cold waiting. Our waitress was polite and attentive, but it's too bad the hostess's rudeness ruined the meal. Needless to say, we won't be going back. I regret that this was my first experience with the LA food scene. I hope it's not representative of what to expect from the...
