Booked a reservation online for 5 nights. Messaged the hotel weeks in advance requesting an early check in since our flight was coming in very early (12 pm is early check in subject to availability). Our plan was to take the courtesy shuttle and leave our suitcase while we took a Lyft to check around the city before check in. Upon landing at LAX we called the hotel to mention we needed the shuttle and requested early check in BUT the not so polite receptionist told us we have to request the shuttle once we pick up our luggage (the website mentions to call when you land AND when you pick up your luggage. I was doing the first step!), he also said that check in time is at 3 pm (when I requested nicely for a early check in and he didn’t see my request I made beforehand) AND that we were not even eligible for the complimentary breakfast the day of since we were there well before the 3 pm check in (there was no accommodation even though we were staying for 5 nights!!) Once we got to the hotel, after waiting 45 mins for the shuttle from the airport, we left our luggage at the hotel and the receptionist said we have to call around 12 to see if there is early availability. Upset and tired after the mornings events, we called at 11:30am to check to see if there was early availability. A different receptionist this time said yes. So we arrived at 12 pm BUT when we got there they mentioned they only have 2 queen beds available (in advanced we paid for a King size bed with extra floor space which is a rate higher than the 2 queen bed rates) and that if we refused we would have to come back at 3 pm to get the king!! Wish she could’ve mentioned that to us earlier since we were tired and we rushed over! We just went with that option since we were tired even though we were being charged more for a lowered scale room AT the same price since!! Be aware. The option of moving to another room to our normal requested room after a day was not an option (btw we even did the workers a favor and didn’t even request new towels or a room clean at any of those 5 nights). Later on, At 9:30 pm the AC was rattling loud and we just couldn’t sleep so I recorded the sound and went downstairs in person to front desk to show the video and noise. We had to move all our belongings at 10:00 pm to a new room since they sent up a maintenance guy (who was very pleasant) and told us we had to go to another room. We finally got some “ok” rest because the walls are thin and you could easily hear people in the morning. It was a roughy first day. Overall as for the GOOD, the location is as great and parking was ample since we had a car available, breakfast and maintenance staff were nice and on the last day we were able to get a late checkout as IHG members. The BAD, was for majority of the overall service and accommodation, even the elevator was down about two days during our stay so we had to wait long going up and down our room on the fifth floor and having to wait longer when the elevator was full. Interestingly enough, I even mentioned online my reason for my stay was my birthday, not one person...
Read moreWe stayed here 1 night post cruise on 6 February 2025. We paid NCL for the connection from the ship to the airport and then called for the free shuttle to the hotel. |Shuttle: Good|Picked us up in about 15 minutes at Terminal 1 where bus from cruise port dropped us off. Driver a little snippy, especially dropping off French couple w/ child who didn't tip! Driver seemed a little daring and was jerky in airport congestion. |Morning shuttle left 5-10 minutes late but was quick to airport once loaded. Different driver and much better navigating traffic than prior one.||Check-in (hotel policy)|(Note: They put $100 hold above room/tax amount at check-in? It's HIE so no restaurant/bar. Why so much unless people buy $100 of soft drinks in lobby? Although it doesn't really affect my credit line, it might for some, especially if using debit card!)||We arrived at the hotel between 1 and 2. (would have been earlier if it hadn't taken so long to go through Customs-new rules in place as of late January!) Upon arrival, we were greeted by Yessica at front-desk. Check-in was good; she recognized my IHG status and tried to acknowledge my room preferences but was limited due to our early arrival. (Our upgrade per the app to their best -king-size bed room was not yet cleaned so we took the only large room available, (#403), at that time; it had 2 double beds. The room was ok. We were at west end looking towards ocean far in distance, airport and planes landing just south and west of hotel, and McDonald's across street. (Note: The small homes across the street go for over $1 million according to Zillow?) Plane noise after turning TV off but not too bad. Took Lyft to overpriced Thai restaurant about 2/3 mile west and walked back. Some characters out in mid-afternoon but didn't feel unsafe. We were happy with our room location. |Room had tub, which was a nice surprise after 16 night Panama Canal cruise from Miami with only shower. Everything mostly clean although a few wash cloths smelled musty. My bed was too soft on side closest to other bed but firm on wall side by bathroom so I just shifted over. Pillows seemed mislabeled as soft were firm and vice versa|Only 1 elevator working while there but caused no major delays. Breakfast very good for HIE. Even pancake machine worked well and required no staff attention. Potatoes, scrambled eggs, pork links and turkey patties, plus biscuits and sausage gravy. Yummy looking cinnamon rolls but too rich and sugary for me, but my blood sugar probably went up just looking at them! Friendly staff and above average breakfast for HIE!||All good but not 5. (elevator, no suites, late cleaning, etc.) We would return if in area one night before or...
Read moreWe stayed here for 6 nights, we booked here for two main reason: free breakfast, and free parking.
Parking is quite difficult as everyone parks over the lines and crooked. It does fill up, but the staff will make a spot for you (on the ramp, in hash marks, etc.) two of the nights we had to park on the ramp due to no spots. The 3rd night that we came back pretty late, only found 1 spot on the upper garage, but the cars on either side were over the lines, and we couldn’t fit. So we went to the ramp, and parked there (after we were told to the two nights prior). 20ish minutes later we get a call to our room demanding we move the car, that “the entire upper garage is empty”…. I said “oh okay! No problem. However it was empty 20 minutes ago…” and the guy on the phone states “yes it was, I just came from out there”…. Again, it wasn’t empty, we even tried to back into a space, but couldn’t fit.
My husband goes down to move the car, and is met by the security guard smoking a black & mild saying “why’d you park here! You can’t park here. There’s plenty of spots upstairs” my husband explains that there wasn’t initially. The guard responds “yes there was. I was out here. Why’d you park here!?” My husband responded that he wasn’t going to argue, he’s moving the car, and ended it.
The guard however was not outside, we saw him in the lobby leaning on the counter talking to the front desk guy. We also took awhile unloading our car before we even walked in, so had he been outside, he would have had plenty of time to ask us to move.
Housekeeping was pretty good, we did receive a stained towel each day, but they stock plenty, so we had others to use to avoid the stained ones. I think the shower could have been a bit cleaner though, there was a lot of stains/marks on the wall, and few hairs.
Noise: the street below is very very noisy, we were woken up at all hours of the night due to car noises below. The walls are pretty thin as well, we heard the people next door bright and early showering, flushing the toilet, and coughing.
Breakfast: staff is very friendly and helpful. Always plenty of food every time we went down, at various times each day. Plenty of seating, never had an issue finding a table to eat at. Very clean as well.
Over all our experience was decent, minus the one encounter with the security guard. I wouldn’t book here again, mainly due to the noice, but I will use...
