WACK. Would not recommend. Will not be returning.
Beer garden in theory, not in reality. Started with them telling us balloons (we had 6 balloons on a string) are not allowed because they're a fire hazard, yet there's a huge tapestry hanging just above a handful of propane space heaters which is an ACTUAL HAZARD. Then they got mad at us several times telling us to sit down... Uhh isn't this supposed to be a family friendly beer garden?
We had our kids 1st birthday here and a woman named Hue (spelling), who claimed to be an owner, accosted us because we cut a cake that we didn't buy from them. Would've happily paid a cake fee or whatever but she just stood there over our table arguing with us and insisting that we pack up and go. She also lied saying that we cussed at one of her servers - maybe some lame attempt at shaming us into her narrative. When we refuted, she quickly backpeddled and said sorry for saying that.
Our group easily spent $2k+ in food and drinks but was nagged at the whole time, and served dirty looks by multiple servers. Even on our way out she was yelling at us because we didn't exit the way she wanted.
Bottom line ā I really wanted to like this place. Food was cool and the drinks were good but the aura sucks ā seems like Hue is a control freak and it impacts all the staff.
Heard similar stories after telling friends about our experience.
Again, I wouldn't recommend going and will not be returning.
Hue is bad...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn my fourth visit to Bia Om I felt the need to review in hope that owners will read. Bia Om is a great venue for Los Angeles with five star atmosphere⦠However youāll be hard pressed to find a well priced item on the menu, which is a shame for somewhere that is modeled after a beer garden.
Beer garden IMO = a generous place overflowing sudsy beer/ piles of steamy sauerkraut and stacks of wieners. Not 8$ mugs of fermented sugar water or little plates of sauerkraut (delicious) that I swear I could have eaten in two mouthfuls. My schnitzel was good but for 28$ Iāll pound my own pork.
Itās disappointing that the generosity in atmosphere and design isnāt reflected in the menu, as whatever fun Iāve had here is tainted by obvious price gouging. Perhaps weāre paying for all the uncomfortable teak benches. Itās too bad that uncomplicated beer food canāt be made affordable and welcome a more diverse demographic representing LA.
Future visits to Bia Om Iāll stick to drinking water, enjoying the company of friends, in the welcoming āgardenā, without...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeautiful porch. Friendly servers. Wish the menu felt more friendly also. Saw all the other reviews saying the food is good but really pricey and can't disagree with that. Got a tasty enough pretzel with maybe a tablespoonful of a cheesy sauce for $12?
At $12 - Wish there was something like mini latke/tater tots or several hot pretzels/sticks.
Paid $7 for a lemon water that tasted weak. A friend got the $8 lemon water that supposedly had more syrup. Neither was particularly refreshing certainly not worth the $$.
When I have more cash in hand I don't mind spending more money on food but on this day, and trying to be mindful of my budget, nothing seemed idea/fun for an afternoon drink and bite.
This place would be packed to the gills I think if they paid a little more attention to the diner who wants to pop in just for an hour or so and have a really...
