Bludso’s BBQ-Teaxs style BBQ in Los Angeles. One of four I found in my research and the closest to the hotel. Good reviews so we went for it. Food turned out to be real hit and miss. No multi meat platters here. All ala carte/family style. All sides cost $6.50 for half a pint including slaw!! No green beans. Meats were mostly standard issue-brisket lean or fatty, pork ribs, pulled pork, ribs tips, chicken. Also smoked jackfruit and a chicken link. The unique meat on the menu IMO was the beef ribs by half and full rack! And reasonably priced at $17 for a half rack. We see beef ribs other places at upwards of $30 each bone. I think the difference is how they are cut/part of cow. The ribs served here were obviously the same as you would find cut from a prime rib/sold in grocery, beef back ribs. I believe the larger type ribs seen elsewhere are a plate short rib cut from a different section of the steer. I immediately asked if they were out of anything and was told no but he'd check. Came back to tell us that only one beef rib half rack left. Jumped on that immediately. Waiter suggested just ordering one thing at a time as food came out quickly. Hmmmm. After major missteps in the past when ordering brisket at dinner elsewhere, decided to skip today. Chose to add the quarter rack pork ribs, A portion of slaw, a potato roll, and piece of cornbread. I will say unequivocally that both meats were delicious. Well rendered bark, rub redolent of black pepper possibly too heavy for some really pervasive flavor. Moist, lovely rosy smoke ring, and a heady smoke flavor profile. They use post oak here I believe-should have asked. The meats were delicious without sauce so wasn’t needed but served with two different versions regular and spicy. We were told this after trying and then and both had very nice flavor. We don't do spicy but the one labeled so was not a problem for us. The meat experience here was a solid A. Can't say the same for other items. Slaw was typical with maybe a bit more black pepper than the majority we've found. I liked it, wife not as much. But no way was it worth $6.50. No chopped cabbage with dressing would be. Normally we might have added say some green beans-n/a-or potato salad but at the price per serving just no way. The potato roll was a potato hamburger bun!! Listed as from a famous Pennsylvania bakery. Not worth it IMO. The cornbread was warm, a nice portion, and served with honey butter. But it was so dry and crumbly that the first bite spread crumbs across a wide portion of my plate. Not enjoyable. Only ate half. I would love to just use an A grade but the drawbacks bring it down to a B minus. They do know what they are doing with the meats, that...

Ok so I read all the hype behind this new location watched the ribbon cutting ceremony while walking my dog one day and patiently waited to go eat until today plus I had a cool hundee ($100) in my pocket to burn so me and my very hungry bf decided to swing by after the lunch crowd and before the dinner crowd made there way in. Yikes! Didn’t realize that my hundee was going to used up for a pathetically small portion of overpriced BBQ.

The corner location has been other restaurants in the past and seeing that there were no BBQ restaurants (Baby’s BBQ on Lincoln remains closed after a fire) in the surrounding area this location was and is perfect (until I got the food and bill) for the SanMo locals, tourists and UCLA hospital and other companies that are nearby. As a local (within walking distance) this new restaurant was an exciting flavor to this area. This place is fully (overly) staffed and surrounded by TVs with every major sport. You can see that this space was well thought out with large booths and tables, exposed brick walls and a counter for those needing a close up of a sports game.

Ok so let’s talk food. We ordered the pulled pork and brisket and what we were served was pathetically small portion and not good and dry. First off they must not make the BBQ there otherwise that whole place would smell like a legit smoke house so they must bring in from some other place and knowing that made it less appealing. Yet there we were staring at the plate of the a la cart menu and felt hungry even after eating this two options. Even the spicy bbq sauce was not spicy. We had the mac and cheese in a tiny baby bowl (lol) and burnt cornbread (dry AF) but the honey butter was the best thing I had with the entire meal.

Our waiter was super attentive can’t complain about the service, but I won’t be returning. I’ll take my $70 dollar meal bill (I think rent is also included in our bill) and $15 tip to Woodys BBQ...

So we were in Southern California for my Grandson's birthday, we went to Universal Studios and we got hungry once we were leaving so my daughter brought up getting BBQ and I remembered Bar Rescue and that one of the friends of Jon Taffer has a very well known BBQ restaurant. So I looked it up and off we went once we arrived we had a little bit of a wait which wasn't an issue. So after we got the alert that out table was ready we sat down and started looking at the menu, I explained to my daughter that Mr. Bludso helps the cooks at the bars they rescue and gives them some really tasty food 😋. I knew that my goal was to try his BBQ after watching, our server was freaking awesome (top notch service) was super helpful with assisting us what would be the best items to try that would be suffice for us to share. We decided on the Dinosaur beef rib ( yes you heard that right, we had some serious Flintstones jumping off here 😁😂) , brisket, collard greens and you already know Mac n cheese. Well I can honestly whole heartily say...

THAT WAS THE BEST DAMN BBQ PERIODT!!! PUT ALL THE BBQ SPOTS OUT IN THE BAY TO SHAME! MEAT SO TENDER IT LITERALLY FELL APART JUST TRYING TO SLICE AND PICK IT UP AND JUST THE JUICIEST And they have a special sauce to put on the greens that the manager ( he was awesome too) had grabbed for us to try, on everything I'll never use hot sauce on my greens again ( Mr. Bludso please bottle & sell that &i mean that on everything please 🙏🏽) it was so good we ordered more greens to take back so we could enjoy that amazing bottle of magic.

I am so so happy I remembered his restaurant and so are my daughter and grandson too, it was packed everyone was in good moods enjoying bomb azz BBQ along with watching sports. Perfect way to end a Sunday night.

Can't wait to go back...
