We plan to stop by Brooklyn Water Bagel every time we are in the area for morning LAX flights for us or family members. Their bagels are amazing, omelettes are tasty, and they have a great assortment of coffees and juices to suit any palate. Our most recent visit was a bit off kilter service-wise. I used to be able to order a breakfast sandwich on a bagel with grilled mushrooms, onions, spinach, tomatoes, and my choice of cheese, NO eggs, but this particular visit the gal at the register refused that request... Mind you, I have been getting the same thing for years (vegetarian with a vegan slant) with no problems, so perhaps something recently changed? They also charged for but forgot the avocado on my husband's omelette and didnt bring an order of hash browns for one order and a mozzarella sandwich for another order until everyone else was pretty much done eating. We will try them again, as every other visit we have been pleased with. Hopefully our experience next time goes back to the service they...
Read moreBagels from New York are the best and one of the main reasons why is the water. Just like New York pizza, bagels in New York are made with water from there. Water treated in New York is different than how it's treated here so the result is a different taste in baked goods.
Hence the idea behind Brooklyn Water Bagels. The supposedly have a machine that "Brooklynizes" the water used to make these bagels.
I ordered an asiago jalapeño donut with scallion smear. The bagel was pretty good but not has tough on the exterior like a New York bagel. However, this bagel was the best asiago bagel I have had on the west coast. They put in a very generous portion of smear and the scallion smear was delicious.
So this place is no Murray's but I'm a believer. I would definitely come back again to try something else.
Service was good and quick. Parking is free on the street or in the lot...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for ten years at this point and sorry to say I may have just taken my last trip. The quality of ingredients in the bagel sandwiches has been in perpetual decline over the last couple years. What used to be an amazing, fluffy, satiating bacon egg and cheese has, step by step, turned into a pre-made mass-produced dumpster fire of a sandwich. Microwaved bacon that must be bottom tier, a soggy, uninspired, and cold egg layer which obviously came pre-shaped or was poured from a carton. Wretched and undercooked. Cheese of dubious origin instead of the gooey, salty slices of yore. For the $12 cost of a coffee and egg sandwich, please go back to the ingredients you used to use, because this is nothing short of a con. I couldn’t get through one bite this morning and I used to come here near-daily.
The bagels are still great though, which warrants the...
