This place is lovely and has such cute decor.
The good: the carne en su jugo was tasty, it was savory but not overly salty. The meat was very tender and had very little to no fat which I like. The bits of bacon it had were quite thick and also didn't have a ton of fat. The plate comes with beans, but I had them out the beans on the side and ordered a side of rice. The beans were tender and well cooked, but nothing special. The rice was also well cooked, fluffy and we decently flavored. My friend ordered the barbacoa quesadillas, these were delicious! The barbacoa quesadillas were very flavorful and tender. They used corn tortillas and applied a very generous amount of cheese. These were probably my favorite from everything ordered. Their salsas and chips were ok, nothing spectacular but ok.
The bad: there is no parking lot, but there seems to be plenty of parking on the street, although some are metered. The restaurant is all outdoor so going during the middle of summer or when it is raining out might not be ideal. Lastly, the guacamole had almost no avocado, it was mostly onion, tomato, and cilantro. Although the flavor was good, the fact it had almost no avocado is definitely a fail for me and the reason why I'm only giving them 3 stars. I also tried their strawberry horchata and was not very impressed. Although they mentioned it was freshly made there, the strawberry flavor tasted artificial. It almost tasted like what was used was strawberry flavired powder and I also didn't taste any cinnamon, which I am used to when it comes to horchata but that's just a personal thing I enjoy and know that not everyone does.
Overall, the restaurant is just ok. The service is splendid, very friendly staff. Unfortunately, I cannot give them more than 3 stars based on the underwhelming guacamole, just average salsas, and lack of indoor space that is accessible for those who are differently abled.
Would return for the barbacoa quesadillas, but everything else I'm not sure I would...
Read moreYes the parking is limited but it’s worth the struggle. First off. The staff, the owner the kitchen are very accommodating to your needs. Very nice people. As you sit down you receive 3 salsas for your chips. The chips are crunchy and the salsas are the real deal. Real Mexican (no sugar like others) so be ready for the kick of the hot salsa
We ordered, Carne en Su Jugo, torta Ahogada, barbacoa lunch , quesadillas de carne asada y pollo fundido con Chorizo. The Carne en su jugo is an actual home cook meal and it’s delicious. This is an authentic home cook meal that you need to try. The Torta Ahogada is as good as you would get in Guadalajara (I’ve had a few 😁) I order #6 spicy and it was Really Hot. But I lowered through. The spicy-ness did not overwhelm the flavors of the meat. It was a great combination
The Queso Fundido is a great sharing app. Great cheese.
The barbacoa meat was really good according to my daughter. And the quesadilla was gone before I tasted it.
Also try the Strawberry Horchata. It will not disappoint We will be back. Love the ambiance...
Read moreThis place is not worth the wait. One whole hour to be seated we ordered a molcajete a torta ahogada, queso fundido and some barbacoa tacos. 20 minutes into our order they come back and said o we don't have molcajetes smh. Why not tell us right away instead of making us wait so long. Then I ordered carne en su jugo which the brought out luke warm. On their website the queso fundido with no meat is 9.99 they bring out one with chorizo I tell them we need ant the regular one with no meat. At the end of the meal they give us the bill and we were charged 18.99 for the queso fundido i asked why she said that was the price even tho it clearly says otherwise on the website. If I would have known it was the same price I would have gotten it with meat. The owner's daughter argued as I tried to get an explanation but over all I would never go back to this place. The food was bland I guess if you're a hipster that doesn't know authentic food its fine but me and my family are from Guadalajara so...
