Been coming to La Abeja since ‘74. Didn’t care for huevos rancheros much until I tried theirs. DEE BEST!! Ha! In fact, I use theirs as the standard by which to compare others, and compare I do! Some are “meh,” some are purdy goot, but none compare to what Rogelio and the boyz are cookin’ up in the kitchen. Another fun fact, and call me narrow-minded, I don’t care, but the huevos rancheros plate is the only thing I eat when I go there. Others have told me the other plates they serve are wonderful, and I have no reason to doubt their palate! But I now drive over 25 miles one-way just to have this food. Yes, yes, little hole-in-the-wall feel-good mama’s lil’ kitchen atmosphere - it’s all been said before. So if you don’t mind the lack of linen, plastic water glasses, ceiling fans missing a blade or 2, and weak coffee, then you will love this place like so many other people do. If/when I go to heaven, I hope the Lord has seen fit to have La Abeja’s kitchen and staff there! It...

I have been coming to La Abeja Restaurant for about 40 years, if not more, and I have to say that La Abeja is the best Mexican Restaurant in all of Los Angeles! For breakfast try the Huevos Rancheros and you will know what a real Mexican breakfast is all about! Delish! Try the Adobado for lunch or early dinner and brother, you will think you are in ol'Mexico! Pork cooked for hours in a mixture of secret spices done to perfection! And the servings are the most generous of any restaurant! Or try the Adobado Burrito, for someone with a smaller appetite and I promise you, you will ask for a doggie bag and funny thing is there is no doggie at home! Seriously La Abeja is the best kept secret! Roy and Julia are the charming and gracious hosts who are there everday with a smile and ready to serve their best! Visit them for authentic Mexican food and I guarantee you will be back many times with...

Its great to see so many reviews from other folks who like me have been coming here for decades (39 years). As a Los Angeles native in my 60's, I cherish places like La Abeja because they are among the few constants remaining in an ever changing city. I've known 3 generations of Roy's family over the years. Unfortunately I'm kind of stuck on the huevos rancheros and can rarely bring myself to order something different. The home made chili sauce in the little jar on every table is heaven. Hey, the place isn't fancy or hip but an old fashioned homey neighborhood restaurant that satisfies every time. I'm so happy I've been able to enjoy this place, the people and the food for most of my life.

My son just moved into the neighborhood and we tried La Abeja for a quick dinner. A steady stream of local customers which is always a great sign of quality! Nothing fancy but delicious food. We ordered the vegetarian and pork w/green sauce burritos. Customer service was friendly and Poncho is a rock star.
