0 stars if I can for service. We live in the Bay Area, this is ALWAYS our last stop before heading home. We’ve done this 5 times in the last 1.5 years. We’re never coming back.
We called at 9 asking if we can call in our order for an arrival at 15, only because we know closing time is near, they said no. We said okay we’ll come. We arrive by 9:24 for a family of 4. All we wanted was Pad See Ew and one of their noodle soups… only two of us were eating.
When I walked in, the server looked at me as she held a plate and gave me the finger of wait, as she looked at the clock and served a table, she then went to the kitchen lady and then came back said because of the time we are only doing take out. I started to explain to her that we are on the way home and live 5 hours away, we have no where to eat. She said well some items are sold out… without even asking what we wanted. We explained AGAIN, and she huffed and went to the kitchen lady and they agreed to have us and she said, oh you can sit and order but a lot is sold out.
I’ve worked in the industry before, last calls are about 15-20 minutes before closing latest, it had not hit 9:30, the open sign was still on and people were coming in to order for pick up. The least she could have done was asked us what we wanted to see if it was available.
I LOVED the food here as I am only to find some items I like here only. That was extremely unpleasant and embarrassing to have shown my in laws this place for the first time. The server was extremely rude on the phone...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I ordered delivery for the Kai Kua Noodle dish and it is advertised as a shrimp and chicken dish with sprouts and egg and peanuts. This dish literally came with 2 small shrimp and I was very disappointed bc as a dish advertised as having "shrimp and chicken" in it I expected at the VERY LEAST there to be 3 or 4 shrimp in the dish. I called in to dispute this and the girl who answered the phone argued with me for about 10 MINUTES with an attitude and nasty tone yelling at me. Not to mention my noodles were extremely dry and no sauce/flavorless. My boyfriend also ordered a noodle dish super dry as well a Pad See dish, and we both had to douse our meals using our at home soy sauce bc of how flavorless the food was. NOT caring about your customers feedback is wrong. Arguing w them is even worse. We are NOT giving our business to this establishment again. I work too hard for my money to be yelled at on the phone by a person I am willingly giving my money to. And to the woman on the phone who argued with me, you should care more about your customers when they spend good money on your business bc we will not come back now, and we do matter. I have worked in food service for over 15 yrs and I would never answer customers back and with the tone and immature careless attitude that she used. VERY A UNPROFESSIONAL.Do not waste...
Read moreHere’s my second attempt at a review of this fine eatery. The Googs took down my first. Maybe because of some foul language, or maybe because I mentioned a server by name. My suggestions for getting the most out of your Chiangmai dinning experience are: Walk in the side door like a true local. This will let all of the other patrons know Thai royalty has just arrived. Demand to be served by J-Man. He is a modern day Marcus Aurelius. With such quotes as “Most people are just the candy coating” and “I would get it with shrimp.” His thin mustache gives him an air of a Thai Zorro. He uses his Thai culinary expertise to cut through the nonsense to get you what you need, and this leads perfectly into my last suggestion. What you need is Tom Yum. I don’t know if you noticed, but Yum is in the name of this dish. It really should be called “Tom, I don’t know what’s in this…but yum.” If I ever meet a guy named Tom Yum, I’m going to marry him. I want Tom Yum in my mouth every night. I now measure everything on a scale from 1 to Tom Yum, and I rate Chiangmai Thai a Tom Yum...
