I want to start off by saying the hostess, our wonderful server, and the food was absolutely impeccable! So, why the TWO STARS? Strictly for one reason... the owner. My partner and I, who just so happened to be the only POC in the establishment, were discriminated against.
Our night started off beautiful. The service was astounding and we even had some amazing conversations with other guests around us.
As the place evolved with more people, I began to notice the owner, a white, tall, assertive male would make rounds to each and every table, checking in on them. I was impressed by this level of detail and comforted to see how personable he was with his customers. I was eager to tell him it was my first time here, and being apart of the NoHo community, it was a little gem I discovered and couldn't wait to come back.
Unfortunately, that opportunity never happened. Why? Because for whatever reason, the owner decided to outright skip our table every time he made his rounds. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was busy, or maybe he even were friends with some of the guests he was so conversational with. I watched him, each and every time ask every table around them how they were doing. He literally looked at me and my partner, (again the only POC in the entire restaurant at the time (Black and Hispanic)) and would again present pleasantries to the tables around us every time disregarding our presence... every... time. I said this has got to be a mistake or a joke.
My partner and I pointed out to the waitress this inconceivable and perceivable discrimination that was happening to us by the owner. Our waitress, who was more than understanding and was shocked we felt that way, reached out to the owner about our distaste of what we thought was clear discrimination. The owner then walked over to our table... Great, he's going to acknowledge how he made us feel uncomfortable and give us a small apology. Honestly, I would've been content with that. No, instead he gave us our check and said, "your beers were paid for by Table 9". Gave us our bill then simply walked away.
No acknowledgment. No apology. Nothing. Needless to say, I was appalled and shocked that during this racially tense climate, he would choose to not even acknowledge how uncomfortable we felt based off his actions in his own establishment.
It's shame because every other aspect of our experience was impeccable and he unfortunately put a stain on our night out, and I would advise any POC to be aware if you're going visit...
Read moreThoroughly enjoyed this place. It's down the street from me, or was as I'm moving. Discovered it on a walk through the neighborhood one day and stepped in.
The staff was very welcoming and courteous.
I can't say I'm a wine aficionado, connoisseur or enthusiast so I just went with whatever was recommended although most times I would just opt for an IPA.
Bartended Vince brings a good vibe and energy to the place and enjoyed my visits there whenever he was in.
The regulars are also some chill people and I made a few friends and had some good talks and times there.
I enjoyed going there to unwind after a long day of work or to study/do some work and have a drink or two.
The playlist is 🔥 and the atmosphere was mellow.
The food was ok, IMO the steak nor its portion was good enough considering the price. The baguette was enjoyable though.
I'd recommend some late night dishes or apps like a burger, or something with protein that's not necessarily priced as a full course or entre.
One of the better bars I've been to , great service. All staff members are on point from the host, to the bar keep to the barracks and cooks. Everyone...
Read moreMirabelle is a real discovery! A European style wine bar and restaurant with a twist in the heart of the Valley.
It oozes charm both inside and out, and boasts an exceptional wine list. The twist is that the kitchen is situated outside next to the terraced dining area, with a range of dishes to suit all tastes cooked either in a wood burning oven or on the barbecue.
The servers are friendly, efficient, and clued up on the wine list and menu.
The ambience is relaxed and heavily scented by the delicious combination of cooking delicacies and smoldering logs if you are seated outside, which I highly recommend.
Their Happy Hour, 5:00pm-7:00pm weekdays, with an additional Happy Hour from 10:00pm-12:00am Fridays and Saturdays is not to be missed. Their House wines on the Happy Hour menu are vastly superior to what you are offered in some establishments, and a snip at $10 a glass or $40 a bottle.
AND, they also offer a Brunch menu on Sundays.
Be sure to reserve a table to avoid disappointment, after 7:00pm the tables are quickly filled by pre-booked diners.
Be prepared first a very...
