My boyfriend and I enjoyed dining at dan modern Chinese Restaurant recently, and it was a genuinely delightful experience from start to finish. Everything about our evening was outstanding, from the delectable Food to the exceptional service. With the Food - it was nothing short of excellent. Each dish we ordered was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavors and beautifully presented; this night made me truly appreciate how my hard work on the journey I have travelled from once being Homeless made me savor the flavors and the moment. The Chefs at dan and their Team have a passion for creating memorable dining experiences. The Menú offered various options to cater to different palates, and everything we tried was perfectly executed. Every bite was a treat for the senses, from the savory Dumplings to the Noodles - I highly recommend trying their Signature dishes. Our dining experience was made even more special by our lovely Waitress, Jasmine. She was not only attentive and efficient but also incredibly kind and friendly. Jasmine went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and comfortable throughout our Dinner. Her warm and genuine personality indeed added to the overall charm of the evening. We appreciated her service immensely. I'd also like to extend my gratitude to another Woman at the restaurant whose name I didn't catch, but her kindness towards me, my boyfriend, and my Service Dog did not go unnoticed. She made us feel incredibly welcomed, and her thoughtfulness added to the overall positive atmosphere of the restaurant. Jasmine and she were kind to me and my Service Dog and quenched his thirst with a bowl of Water; thank you to you both! We were so impressed by the exceptional service and the overall dining experience that we felt compelled to share our appreciation with the Manager; who was also friendly and receptive to our feedback, confirming that dan truly values its Customers. The ambiance was another highlight of our evening. We were dining outside last Saturday evening, surrounded by beautiful lights and a pleasant atmosphere, which made for a truly magical experience. It's the perfect spot to unwind, enjoy a delicious meal, and create beautiful memories. In conclusion, our visit to Dan's restaurant was an absolute delight. The Food was exceptional, the service was top-notch, and the ambiance was enchanting. I highly recommend this Restaurant to anyone looking for a beautiful dining experience whether it's a special occasion or a relaxing evening out, this is the place to be. Thank you to the incredible dan Team for making our evening unforgettable. We can't wait to return!

This is not your typical Chinese restaurant so check the menu if you are craving a specific dish before you come here. If there are XLBs on the menu I’m getting them so this visit to Dan Modern was no different. Coming in I was comparing everything to DinTai. The Xiao long bao’s were really good, just enough soup inside and the filling was very flavorful. We ordered the pork and pork and dungenous crab. I personally liked the pork much better. There’s five xlb’s per serving. Also ordered the spicy XLB, I was expecting them in swimming in spicy sauce but instead the filling is spicy without the sauce. I was dipping it in chili oil so not sure if the filling was super spicy or if it was my dipping sauce. I ordered the pan fried handmade dumplings but meant to order the crispy ones so I’ll have to try those the next time. Pan fried were tasty but a little oily. We ordered the short rib Dan noodles now this dish was bomb! I would definitely order this again. Shrimp fried rice was good too, good sized portion generous with the shrimp and just overall tasty. Some cons were the service was slow and not that attentive especially seeing that there were not that busy. Being that they are a new restaurant hope they work this out. Restaurant is located at the Village near 24 hours fitness closer to REI.

This place is a vehicle for potential to be wasted and very little more. I ordered the dandan noodles, served by a nice waiter named Dan, the water was appropriately cold, and that's about where the positives end. For nearly $20 including tip what you get here is a staggeringly bastardized version of actual dan mian noodles. In lieu of a proper, peppery sauce chili oil, meat, pickled vegetable, and a sweet soy sauce, you are given what amounts of Panda Express tier beef and broccoli with barely cooked noodles in a sauce that tastes worse than most bottled gas station teriyaki. The amount of sugar in this is baffling, and according to my server, it's the same sauce on every dan mian dish. You could get a nearly identical flavor profile by reducing coca cola into a syrup and adding salt. I admit they've got off one negative tick by not calling themselves authentic as it would be an insult to the heritage of chinese cuisine. However, calling themselves "modern" is an insult to any person currently living. Avoid if at all possible, the value proposition is horrendous and the flavor is not much better.

My husband and I have been waiting months for this restaurant to open. We unfortunately had a really poor experience. We had the soup dumplings which were okay. Nothing we’d come back for. I ordered 2 of the “3 Cup Chicken Plates”. One to eat while there, and one ordered to-go. We got the one to-go bagged and brought to us when we were still waiting for the other one but it was never brought to us. I told our waitress and just asked that they’d bag it as well so I could take it to-go since by this time, we had finished our dumplings for quite some time. She apologized and said it would be right out so she brought us our check. 5 minutes pass, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, at this point we already paid so we kept waiting. Then our waitress came back confused and asked if we ever got it. She then apologized again and said the kitchen told her they already gave it to someone. Turns out, they gave it to the wrong table. 30 minutes go by, then 40. There was very poor communication with the kitchen. She’d come back every 5 minutes and say it would be right out. After maybe 45 minutes, she apologized and said the manager would refund us for that dish. I told her that’s fine and they didn’t need to make it then if we were being refunded. She assured us it was being made so we continued waiting. Another 15-20 minutes went by and we were finally brought the second 3 cup chicken and they forgot the rice. I noticed right away and so they then had to go back and get rice. Hopefully they actually processed my refund.

Overall, the food was okay but the service ruined the experience and we won’t...

We had a negative experience here. The place was super empty on a Saturday night (surprising for the area, but now we know why). The only redeeming thing about our evening was that our server (Jasmine) was professional and pleasant and the food came out fairly quickly.

We ordered the bok choy and when we received it, I immediately noticed a few bugs on one of the pieces so I sent back the plate. Being that it was the first dish we received, I had immediately set my expectations very low for the rest of the meal if they can't even be bothered to wash their produce (plus its a $15 dish?). What made it worse was that they served the dish to another table right after even though they were made aware of the issue. This just shows a lack of care from the staff. The chicken soup dumplings tasted like pure ginger and it was almost impossible to get them out of the basket without them tearing. The fried rice was bland, and it had only scallions, eggs, and chicken. The only dishes that tasted decent were the short rib noodles and the green beans. Also, the sauces on the table weren't labeled (soy sauce/vinegar).

The inside of the restaurant looks like it was purchased from an IKEA showroom (way too bright for a dinner restaurant).

I will say our server was kind and comped an order of dumplings to make up for the bok choy which I appreciated. However, that didn't make up for the food poisoning I suffered from the next 48 hours.

I would not go back and I'd recommend going to just about any other place to get a meal if you're in the...
