Give Daniel's a Chance.
Never been to Daniel's before, here's my experience. Strip mall style restaurant. Didn't feel like cooking, decided to pick up dinner instead. Everyone loves tacos so it was an easy decision. Decided to stop at Daniel's on a whim.
5.0 - Service 3.5 - Value 4.5 - Cleanliness 4.5 - Presentation 2.5 - Flavor
We agree that ur taco plate gave a good presentation. Food was fresh & hot (temp), but bland / lacked flavor. Like you cooked it without adding any spices to enhance the flavor. Everything else was good. Not a lot of grease, fat or gristle, well cooked, tortillas were good, just a bland serving of various meats.
I ordered three types of tacos to go. 3ea of asada, carnitas, pastor, & 3 asada taquitos. I was surprised that the taquitos were more like flautas, flower tortillas, not corn. The meat portion per taco ratio was generous. The packaged order included limes, onions and cilantro, red and green salsa, some grilled jalapenos (as requested) napkins, sm. side of guacamole.
The restaurant was clean and well-lit. Service was immediate & courteous. The place was empty, except for a few delivery drivers picking up orders doordash GrubHub etc. Rainy night, people order out or stay home.
We filled our bellies but we're left unsatisfied. Always looking for a good taco spot with mouth watering flavors. No we don't...
Read moreI first discovered Daniel’s around 2004, me and some friends would go there on the weekends and eat their delicious food then go home happy, satisfied and looking forward to the next time.
Fast forward to 2020. I hadn’t been to Daniel’s in many years and one day the girl im dating said she wanted mexican but did not feel like any of our usual mex places. I said to her “im going to take you to the best hole in the wall place I know”...
We drove, we ordered and ate the food. I left feeling sad at the realization that time and commercial success had eroded a great mum n pop shop. I thought the food was just alright, she said the food was alright. Daniel’s has changed for the worse. It’s like they were bought out by investors and switched into ‘profit first’ mode, prices are through the roof! they even charged us for extra salsa ffs!!! It now feels like going to a worse Acapulco or Chipotle. Daniel’s is dead to me.
Not that I’ll never go again but to me, it now is just another of the hundreds of ‘meh’ eateries that litter the streets of LA. This place used to...
Read morePretty bad. Ordered through Grubhub which I later realized was a mistake... everything was cheaper on Daniel's menu by anywhere between $1 and $2.50 per item.
Got the asada plate, 4-taco meal, and fries. The carnitas, cabeza and al pastor tacos were ok, but the carne asada plate and asada taco were just terrible. Didn't look or taste like asada at all (should've taken photos), in fact, it doesn't look at all like the photos in their own menu.
The tortillas for the tacos and the combination plate are not good. Thick, kind of mushy and no flavor.
The fries were horrible. A joke. Cold, wrinkled and shrunken. Probably sitting out since last night. Tried a couple and threw all of the rest away. Almost $5 for the fries which is LOL.
Won't be...
