First let me say that my son and I travel often and he loves Denny's so we have been to so many different locations I lost count. We have one or two that are our favorites and whenever we go in those areas we try to stop there because they have the best service and their food is always good. That being said this Denny's here in Wilmington is one that I used to go to when I lived in the area and it was always okay nothing spectacular but no big complaints. So we stopped in at around 1:30 in the morning on our way home from traveling and boy did I get a pleasant surprise. I have a bowel obstruction that needs surgery so it's very difficult for me to eat solid food and it has to be cooked a certain way for me to be able to digest it and usually when I go out to restaurants I have a hard time finding anything I can eat so I questioned our server about a menu item and if it could be cooked a certain way. Usually the servers get very upset and frustrated with me because I asked questions and sort of a pain in the butt with all of my specifics that I ask for and I try not to be a difficult customer I tried to be very happy and pleasant smile and be very grateful and say thank you and please all of that but most of the time they exhibit some frustration because they just want to get moving. Marcus is the name of the young man who was waiting on us and Not only was he extremely Pleasant but he was very efficient he paid attention to what I was saying repeated back what my request was and I'll tell you what I had the absolute best meal I've ever been served at a Denny's. Not only did he get everything right on the order but he explained to the chef about what I was asking for and the chef was amazing and did the accommodations and the food was just wonderful I was able to eat my entire meal which never happens and I did not get any kind of discomfort after I ate it I mean I was so happy I could have cried honestly and it's just really hard in these days to find someone in the customer service that cares and really does go above and beyond to make sure the customers happy. I am so grateful to Marcus and I didn't get the chef's name but God bless him too for taking the time to make the accommodations to my meal and I just want the manager of that location to know that they have some really great staff and I hope that those two get some recognization and some type of reward for being so great at their jobs. I will definitely be coming back by next time I'm in town and I hope this review helps others to know that this is a good location to get some excellent food and good service even in the middle of the night. And if anybody's traveling through and worried about the location because it is in kind of a sketchy area it was very very clean the parking lot was very well lit and I never felt worried as I was going in and out of the door to the parking lot they also had a security man which I know sometimes makes people worried but in this case it was a bonus and just you know because it is kind of a questionable neighborhood that makes you feel a little better so you don't have to worry about going here I mean the restaurant itself is immaculate clean and as I said the staff amazing food was great and I could just go on and on seriously because it's been such a long time since I had a good meal cooked the way I could eat it. So this location was not my favorite or worst location until now they got a reputation for bad service and long wait. I don't k know what it is but I do know this that they have more then 4 cooks in the back and less waitresses in the front. Anyways let's talk about the story on what happened. I get a call for delivery for this location, when I saw that it was the same location where I picked up a delivery earlier I was already thinking about it not going to end well, But I went anyways. When I got their I told a young lady hi I'm here for a ubereats delivery, she said they are still making it hold on. I told her don't worry I will be here, I waited and waited patiently until it got to me. I called the customer to tell them sorry for the long wait. After almost waiting 30 minutes or 1 hour I told them again is the order ready they. They told me what order I told them the order from Ubereats i told the young lady and she said they are making it. She said I forgot then said is it for Postmates i told her no it's for Ubereats! Then a cook comes out to check he said that order was delivered long time ago and I told him how could it be when I have the customer on my other end of the phone telling me how long is it going to take. Really bad for not updating me on it too after telling them and confirming with them. They had to many cooks and still took a long time to cook. Read moreI've been to this particular restaurant before and have had no big complaints until today. Denny's is a diner, not a fine dining restaurant, so I know what to expect before I walk in. Upon walking in there was a consistent high pitched noise coming from the back. I tried to endure it but my right ear was really irritated by it. The first waitress was very cold and uninterested in taking our orders. Fine. I asked to move to the back and whomever the lady was at the register, the same lady who took our order, seemed uninterested in my distress or the reason why and said we can move wherever we want. No help at all...didn't even look at me. Fine. After moving to the back, it took some time for the food to come out. When the food came out, I asked the server, a different young lady, what the noise was. She didn't know but said she would find out. A few minutes later the noise was off. Thank you! After this, nobody ever came to check on us, offer water, nothing. I had to physically get up and ask for water from a male waiter. A few minutes from leaving, the same male waiter yelled at us and asked if we needed anything. Didn't even bother walking to our table. They all seemed too busy laughing on the other side of the restaurant and congregating with each other. Food-wise, it was fine. Service-wise, it was awful.
