While I was in town, my family and I decided to try this place out in its soft opening as we saw it appear not too long ago. Coming in for dinner, we were quickly seated and given menus. Shortly in, we were asked for our drink order where two of us decided on an iced tea and a green tea. Relatively quickly, we got this along with waters for each person. Since we had time to look at the menu, we decided on: •The Tonkatsu ramen with pork chashu, •The drunken udon bowl, •The TGIF roll, and •The crunchy roll. A short wait of about 5 minutes and the chicken karaage came out; it was moderately crispy, and very moist… alongside it was a lemon and spicy mayonnaise, with a tart and spicy taste. A positive I did notice was that they refilled in green tea, something I don’t see at restaurants often. During these refills, the waiter was very polite, first asking for the glass instead of refilling and going. Next out was the crunchy roll - all over it was the roll was matcha tempura— very abundant— making it feel almost like a dessert and taking away from the taste of the roll, which was barely an on-par roll. Next was the tonkatsu ramen. The noodles were very soft, thicker— you could tell they were house-made. The meat was nice and tender, crisped on the crust. All the garnishes were standard, but the egg was nicely cooked. Out next came the TGIF roll - with citrusy undertones, it had a good balance with tart and savory, and a nice kick. The crispy onions were nice along with the green onions. However, the tuna was overly pasty feeling. Out last was the drunken udon; the meat was very soft, with nice fat (which I’m not a fan of usually), full of flavor. The green onion and carrots were not so cooked, almost crunchy. The noodles cooked on the longer end (soft), doused in a spicy sauce which tied it together well. We enjoyed our meal in a decent atmosphere, moderately lit. Overall, service was a 4/5, atmosphere a 4/5, and food was 4/5… 4 stars all...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place. Servers were sweet and got us seated promptly. I'm 5 months pregnant so I'm not huge, but definitely showing, and I was quite hungry. My husband's food came out and then...nothing. I sat and watched him eat, watched the 5 top that was seated about 10 minutes after us receive all their food...and finally after my husband finished and his food was taken away mine arrived. Really ruined the night and the mood. I know mistakes happen, and I don't expect a full comp but maybe taking one of the items off as an apology would have been nice. I waited tables for about 15 years in New York, and managed a restaurant for 4 years in Brooklyn so I have a lot of empathy, but this is the kind of mistake a server should catch and fix ASAP in order to report to whomever is managing the line to prioritize the missing entrees. In NY, this would get you fired. In LA, it just seems to be part of the general atmosphere of shitty service that exists throughout the city.
Food was fine but not good enough to make up for it. There's a reason why LA is best known...

The sushi? Super fresh, well-portioned, and not trying to be trendy—just really solid quality. I tried the salmon belly nigiri and almost ordered a second round mid-bite. The rolls are generous without being sloppy, and you can taste the care in every cut.
And the ramen? Rich broth, perfect egg, and noodles that don’t go soggy halfway through. The tonkotsu hits all the cozy, savory notes, especially on a cooler night.
Staff is friendly, fast, and always seem like they actually like working there, which makes a difference. The vibe’s casual, clean, and perfect for a solo meal, date night, or spontaneous sushi stop.
📍 Pro tip: Sit at the bar if you want to watch the action—and don’t skip the spicy tuna...
