A cute little thai bistro located in the heart of K-town. Though it may not look like much from the exterior, the magic is revealed upon closer inspection. Upon entering the establishment, you are transported to a new world.
The interior is very cute, and the volkswagon bus counter was really nice touch. It is a decently sized area but the patio area is where you want to be. They have seating along the side of the patio, and offer customers a comfortable lounge area where you can sit on the couches and enjoy the view.
Hae Ha Heng does have a Happy Hour menu that includes some offerings from their appetizers and drink specials. The regular menu has a variety of choices from traditional thai restaurants. Such as; Soups, Fried Rice, Noodles, Vegetables and Curries.
We ordered Chicken Satay, Pad See Ew and a Fried Rice. The chicken satay was delicious. Perfectly seasoned, tender and the peanut sauce that paired with it was perfect. Since I have been craving Pad See Ew for a while now, I was very happy with the dish. The fried rice was also really good, and I enjoyed the entire meal. Not a morsel was left behind!
Valet Parking is available downstairs for $2, or street parking if you feel like roaming through the streets of LA. Great spot for good thai food, chill vibes, and...
Read moreI thought it was a cool concept to have a Thai rooftop restaurant in Ktown for an alternative option to Korean food, but despite the nice atmosphere, the food was severely lacking.
I went with a large group, and we were able to all sit together outside, which was nice. We also arrived before happy hour ended, so we were able to order some drinks and small plates. The drinks were fine, but thatâs it. The appetizers (crispy tofu, egg rolls, etc.) were all unseasoned and very bland. The only option for sauce was a sweet chili sauce that didnât go with the appetizers at all. A savory, umami sauce wouldâve paired much better with the tofu.
Moving on to the main course, I ordered the eggplant with fried tofu, which is my go-to at most Thai restaurants. I was surprised when the dish arrived and had julienned shreds of fresh ginger all throughout. Never before have I received this dish with fresh ginger in it, which I donât like the flavor of, but had I known itâs prepared this way at this place, I wouldâve definitely asked for it to be withheld. The fried tofu was the best part of this dish, but other than that, the ginger ruined it for me.
While the ambience here was nice, the food was subpar and far from authentic, so Iâd recommend...
Read moreHonestly it was delicious!! The price is slightly on the pricier end if youâre budget is around $10-15. The food came out at a reasonable time, the waitress was super kind and the ambience was cute and and aesthetic. The food was clean and flavorful. I gave it four stars mainly because I had another Thai restaurant Iâve eaten in LA to compare and I thought they had the best pad Thai ever. Had I just eaten pad Thai here I wouldâve probably given it five stars. It was pretty good and the food portions wasnât overly huge that youâd be stuffed but it wasnât too little either. I had a bite of the papaya salad my friend got and the papaya tasted a bit like kimchi (it was spicy!) but good! And I also had a taste of my other friendâs chicken curry dish which had a hint of coconut. They were all pretty good. I also got the Thai iced tea which was really really good and they out it in a jar which was cute. Honestly it was a pretty good place!! I recommend coming for dates or...
