TLDR The customer service is terrible, the price is high, and the product is average. If you sort the reviews by most recent, you will mostly see bad reviews. Which is a miracle because Sarah generally figures out how to get the bad ones removed. There are far better spots in the area that provide their customers with excellent product and services.
Iāve been here several times. This day that I wrote this was especially bad. Iāll list the three stand out occurrences:
The tech huffed and puffed as I asked her to simply make my nails even and get all of the old polish off. Why she was frustrated with such a standard request is beyond me. Who goes and gets a pedicure to leave with jagged, uneven nails? Sarah had to step in and straighten my nails herself several times. So Sarah knows that tech was doing a bad job.
I pulled out my own thong sandals after my pedi. I wanted something thicker than the paper ones because it was raining that day. The tech told me āNoā. Sarah had to step in again and I just ended up putting them on myself. But like, sis, why are you telling me that I can't wear my own sandals? I had been patiently explaining things to her, trying to be nice. What was the issue?
As weāre wrapping my regular manicure, I asked the tech three times to get all of the old polish off because she kept trying to go to the next step before doing so. Her response the third time was āI donāt have time for this.ā Now, if youāre gonna be rude to me, you should not expect a tip. The service had already been terrible. There are multiple things that she did that I didnāt even list here because Iām trying not to be petty. We were down to a 10% tip until she said that. Then it was $0.
BONUS I paid Sarah and told her Iām not leaving the tech a tip because she was rude to me. (How she tells a costumer "I donāt have time for this" when they made an appointment, and expect them to then tip her? Tips are for good service.) Sarah proceeds to tell me that the woman has worked there three years, donāt be mad, and she doesnāt speak English. Well, she spoke enough English to tell me she didnāt have time. Sarah said she worked on me for two hours. This was for a normal mani/pedi, no gel. I said: I know, I was supposed had been up out the shop so this is inconsiderate of my time, and you shouldnāt be okay with her talking to me like that. (I should have gotten a discount for the inconveniences if you really wanna provide good service.) So I wonāt be returning.
OVERALL I wouldn't risk it. Sarah herself can do a good job but she could use some guidance on running a business and caring for patrons, and she will usually have the other techs do your nails after the first time. This is like my 4th or 5th visit here. I held out on writing this review those times because it wasnāt bad enough for me to leave a bad note and sully the business, but I wish someone had warned me before I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt usually write negative reviews, but I felt my experience at this salon warranted one.
Itās been about a month since getting my nails done (regular pedicure and gel x manicure), and they are now in rough shape. The pedicure was fine, though I did get an infection on my big toe; it became tender and swollen for a few days and there was a bit of pusā¦I read that this was likely an infection from lack of cleanliness. The infection has since resolved, but my major complaint is my gel X manicure. Iāve gotten gel x nails done several times before at different places. After ~4 weeks Iāll typically get them removed since my real nails grow and start becoming visible. However, Iāve NEVER had my nails just fall off!!!! Within 2 weeks, 4 of my nails had fallen off and had subsequently damaged my real nails underneath.
The nails looked nice but honestly felt like cheap press ons. Sure enough, within a week or two they began peeling away from the nail beds. Theyāre now rough, brittle, and scratched. In retrospect, I shouldnāt have been too surprised by this, as my nail tech seemed pretty inexperiencedā¦She didnāt know how to apply the glue, so another tech had to do it for her. And when I requested she cut the nails shorter she tried to pressure me into keeping them longer. She ultimately did make them shorter, but it took an additional 45 minutes to file them downā¦hence why she probably didnāt want to do it. The whole mani pedi experience took 3.5 hoursā¦Thankfully I didnāt have anywhere to be, so I just watched the TV and didnāt say anything. But considering the final product, itās a little ridiculousā¦And at the end of that, I was told to pay before my service was complete (because the shop was closing) and was then pressured into giving a $20 tip.
I will say that the experience here does seem to vary drastically based on which tech you get. The girl next to me also got gel x and her nails turned out amazing and took half the time to complete. This aligns with what Iāve been reading in the other reviews. There are a few 1 star reviews with similar experiences to me, and then there are plenty of 5 star reviews from people who presumably got their nails done by a different tech. Please ensure your techs are sufficiently trained. Youāre damaging...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSurprised to see that this place has some good reviews. Here's my take on my recent experience of the gel mani and pedi @ Pink Nails by Sarah:
Pros: free parking, clean (as it should since it just opened), variety of colors to choose from
Cons: unfriendly, poor customer service, overpriced for the service, takes too long
I think the pros are self-explanatory so I'll focus on explaining the cons. They use cheap-cheap lotions, scrubs, etc. Places that charge $20 for gel mani uses the same products. I would rather go to the cheaper places moving forward than to be mistreated by the owner Sarah (I recognize her face from IG) and her employee for a mediocre nail service.
My poor experience started from the time that I was making an appointment over the phone, I should have just hung up and went to a different place then but was desperate to get my nails done in a short notice. I was fooled by the good reviews on yelp! Anyway, when I called to make an appointment, they were saying that they normally take deposits for new customers and were saying that they're doing me a favor for not taking a deposit... uh.. thanks? I was running late to my appointment so I called to inform them that I was running late and to say sorry but the lady was very rude. When I arrive and they don't even greet me. It took 2 hours for a gel mani and pedi when I didn't have any gels to remove. I never had such experience. I say my experience @ this place was poor because they were extremely unfriendly, got edgy with me when I showed them a picture of what I wanted, asking "why do you need to match your nails to this picture?" Why is that question even necessary??? I snapped a few times during my visit here and my mani and pedi turned out to be mediocre, not satisfactory, so I would not pay this money to be mistreated and for this poor customer service. I hope they have a lot of returning customers because I for sure will not be coming back. Seriously, what did I do to offend you people??? Because I was 15 minutes late? I'm sorry that I was late but please don't treat your customers like that, the quality of your service certainly doesn't make...
