Tucked along Wilshire Boulevard, Jaipur Cuisine of India is a small but welcoming restaurant that truly feels like a neighborhood favorite. Known for its lunch buffet, this spot combines authentic Indian flavors with a warm, family-oriented atmosphere that keeps regulars coming back.
The buffet, priced at a very reasonable $20 + tax on weekends (and $18 + tax on weekdays), offers a satisfying variety. Standout dishes include the lamb curry, which is rich and deeply aromatic, and the chicken masala, tender and flavorful with just the right balance of spice and creaminess. A refreshing salad selection helps balance the meal, while fresh naan bread is served hot to the table — fluffy, soft, and the perfect complement to the curries.
Not every item was flawless. The samosas on my visit lacked crispness and tasted as if they had been reheated rather than freshly fried. They weren’t bad, but they didn’t have the crunch that makes a great samosa memorable. That said, this seemed to be a rare miss, as the rest of the spread was flavorful, fresh, and consistently enjoyable.
What makes Jaipur stand out, however, is more than just the food. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, personally greeting several tables with warmth and genuine conversation. It’s clear this is a place with many repeat customers and families who feel at home here. The waiter was also attentive and polite, making sure plates were cleared promptly and naan arrived fresh. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, giving the impression of a local gathering spot where neighbors and friends connect over food.
Overall, this was truly one of the nicer lunch buffets I’ve been to — not only because of the food, but because of the hospitality and community feel. Jaipur Cuisine of India offers great value, authentic flavors, and a welcoming environment that makes you want to return. If you’re in the area and craving Indian cuisine, it’s...
Read moreAs far as Indian food goes, Jaipur lies right in the middle meaning I've had better, but it's not the worst I've had either.
I decided to come here for a friend's birthday dinner and so I can't comment on the lunchtime buffet, though my bf says it's good. We had a large group (maybe about 15-20 people) and the restaurant seated us right away. There were complimentary pieces of baked (or I think baked) chips set on the tables with a trio of sauces to choose from (I'm recalling a sweet marmalade, a chunky pepper-salsa and a mint chutney of sorts). I thought this was a nice start to our meal.
The table decided to order family style and we ordered several servings of sag paneer, prawn masala, chicken tikka masala along with orders of naan, garlic naan, keema naan & basmati rice.
I tried only the sag paneer (my favorite!) and the prawn masala. I thought both dishes were okay and like I previously stated, good but not the best I've had. I did appreciate the thick chunks of paneer in the sag. Nothing annoys me more than ordering sag paneer to only find like 2-3 pieces of paneer in it! The naan was good but a little on the thin side. I prefer my naan a little more puffed up. The keema naan was delicious and definitely different. Prior to Jaipur, I didn't even know if its existence! This lamb-stuffed naan seemed to be a big hit with everyone.
Bottom line: I would love to return to Jaipur and try the much-raved about lunch buffet. For now, their dinner menu was okay but it didn't blow me away. But, that's not important; the birthday girl had fun so that's all that...
Read moreThere's Indian food for the caucasian/western palette and there's Indian food that dares to bring out the big, bold flavors, that you are likely to find in the sub-continent. Jaipur cuisine packs a punch.
I was referred here by a friendly Indian grocery store owner in Santa Monica as her favorite North Indian restaurant. She said when she wants authentic food, this is her go to spot.
I went there for takeout. Parking was easy. My online order was ready within 15 minutes.
I tried the Paneer makhni (Indian cottage cheese in tomato, cashew butter gravy), Chana (Chickpeas cooked in a flavorful tomato-onion sauce), veggie biryani (a basmati rice base with veggies, herbs & spices) and garlic naan.
For the westside, the prices are possibly some of the best you are going to find. I opted for 'medium' spicy and it was plenty spicy and flavorful.
The food was fresh and the garlic naan was generous with the garlic. It lasted me for 3 meals -- generous serving size.
Pickup was easy, and service was friendly. Most patrons were indulging in the buffet, which looked promising.
Overall 4.5 on 5 in terms of flavor, price and convenience of pickup. I'll be back to try some other dishes, and maybe opt for a...
