Its unfortunate that I have to give this place such a low review just from my last experience, reasons why always make sure who you hire and who will represent your business. I have came to this location about 5 times now and the 5th time was just a disappointment, with the other 4 times coming here service was always delightful & great staff and friendly.
Reasons being the last time we come here is : We walked in took a good 5 min to be greeted by someone as we saw no employee in sight, after someone came to the front she sat us down. We then ordered our drinks my partner ordered IPA and I got a whiskey sours with extra cherries. As the server proceeds to give the order to the bar tender, loudly he tells the server (Did you charge her for the extra cherries?!) I have no issue being charged extra but next time be more discreet about it since everyone can hear.
After finishing our first round we reorder the same drinks and order the meatballs and the pretzel. Took about 10-15 min for us to get our second round of drinks which I found off since they had at least 4 employees and mind u only 6 customers inside this place (was empty). We sat at the table across from the bar while waiting, then I see the bar tender and this other young lady with black hair at the bar just chatting and I think they forget I can see them through the reflection of the mirror that they were conversing about me and my partner which I found RUDE, I assume they aren't so great at being discreet when speaking about customers. Then they proceeded to make our drinks probably after realizing our table was empty.
While we get our drinks after waiting 15 min something is still missing our food!. We see the staff just talking and walking back and forth no means to come and ask us is everything good nor asking if we have got our food yet. We wait another 35 min and NO FOOD was served. We were just fed up so we call our server and ask her for the check and she's like "yea sure" which was clear to me that she obviously forgot our order of food since she didn't seem to notice. And when she's on her little machine to cash us out that's when she realized about our food and says " did you guys get your food? " pretty dumb question to ask as NO PLATES OR FOOD WAS ON THE TABLE. Then she proceeds to say she will comeback to check I don't know what she's checking as we no longer want no food, then she comes back apologizes. My acknowledgement is that she never put in the order and forgot about it. I understand if it was a packed house but this place was EMPTY, no way she should have forgot at all. We checked out & paid, she's lucky we even gave her a tip for the bad service. It sucks that I'm saying this because the times I have came to this place the other staff was amazing on point friendly kind , but not sure if these are new hires or what because I haven't seen them before but this just goes to show how employees can ruin someone's business to lose clients. I have recommended this place to many people and I just hope they don't experience this type of service. To the owner be careful who you hire, because those are the people who will be representing...
Read moreIf you are looking for an awesome chill vibe, check this place out. I came here one day looking for a place to chill with 2 pretty ladies. Decor is like a murder mystery mansion, complete with fireplace. Every wall is lined with books and I've actually tested them (they are real if you wanna get your read-on). Don't expect to get the reading done in here though because all the lights are like at 20% dimmed. I came on an off night, so I know nothing of how this place could be on a Friday or Saturday. Lines and shoulder to shoulder ain't my thing anyway. I just wanna be able to find a seat to plop my butt on, some furniture to put my feet on...and well....a nice chill beverage.
-=-Chilling at the Bar-=- Meeshka and Chance were my bar dudes. They were dapperly dressed and took their time to construct every drink. I'd sit there at the bar for a bit and watch them work. When the waits got long, they always made sure I was acknowledged and told me they'd get to me after a few more people. Chance really took his time to explain to me some of the drinks he's created. Meeshka, too, taught me the importance of good vermouth in a quality Manhattan. I downed about 3 drinks from these fellas. Every single one was sufficiently strong as I'd expect a $13 dollar drink to be. Chance had one of his own creations on the menu under "Trust the Bartender," so that's what I got...the kicker? Absinthe. People sitting at the bar were friendly and I was able to laugh with them through our drinks, and then at them when they got...
Read moreA pretty cool bar! I definitely enjoyed the "grandparent's home/library room" environment, which is classy and relaxing. Being surrounded by books also makes me feel more intellectual, and if your group is really lacking in conversation you can just pull down a book and read if you're that bored. For example, when I was saving a table while my friends were getting drinks, I read 5 pages of "Useful plants every child should know." Yay rice and wheat.
I didn't go to the bar, but apparently the way they make drinks are pretty cool. The drinks are all specialty British drinks, so Anglophiles will definitely enjoy everything here! I tried the Pimm's Cup, which was a little weak but very refreshing! My friend ordered an old fashioned which was pretty strong. Drinks here are a little expensive, but you are paying more for the ambiance and experience. I mean the place had a freaking fireplace, you can't get more comfortable than that.
There is live entertainment on certain days and shuffleboard on one side of the bar. I don't recommend coming here with a group of over 4. It was pretty crowded on a Thursday night and a little hard to talk since it was so loud. Despite this, I enjoyed my experience and would come back again. Definitely a place to check out if you are tired of douchey bars. This place isn't too hipster either. The Wellesbourne is a place I definitely want to bring some of my...
